XBOX ONE Gold subscribers can download two excellent games this weekend but those new Xbox Games with Gold titles for February 2019 are also just around the corner.

The Games with Gold February free games lineup should be announced shortly and with only 6 days left of the month, it's only a matter of time before Major Nelson reveals the new batch of games. 

We say this because, in the vast majority of cases, the Games with Gold announcement has been made just after the 22nd of the month. Although, in some instances, the announcement has been as late as the 27th.

Typically though we see Games with Gold announced before Sony's own PS Plus games. And PS Plus is revealed, normally on the last Wednesday of the month.

In the meantime though, Xbox Gold subscribers can get their hands on two pretty excellent Xbox One games for free this weekend to pass the time.

The first freebie is the rather excellent Forza Horizon 3. A bonafide must play on Xbox consoles and a great game regardless of how much you've enjoyed racing games in the past.

 

Plus, it's got a banging soundtrack too!

On top of this, you can also try out one of 2018's best new fighting games in the form of Dragon Ball Fighterz.

"This weekend is all about power! Take command of powerful fighters in the world of Dragon Ball and powerful cars on the Gold Coast of Australia," reads a Microsoft blog post.

"Xbox Live Gold members can play Forza Horizon 3 and Dragon Ball FighterZ for free as part of the Free Play Days event.

"Starting on Thursday, January 24 at 12:01 a.m. PT and running through to Sunday, January 27 at 11:59 p.m. PT, high-octane fights and the Horizon Festival await you."

Assuming you like the games enough to want to buy them, and so do decide to pick them up, you can keep all your achievements and progress.

And, best of all, both games are both available for under £20 at the time of writing.

For those unfamiliar with how Games with Gold works - perhaps for anyone who only got their first Xbox at Christmas or this month in January sales - here's a quick explainer:

Every month Xbox Live Gold members will receive four new free games – two on Xbox One and two on Xbox 360.

Typically, Games With Gold includes two titles available for a period of two weeks and another two available for a month. It can get confusing and you don't want to accidentally miss out on downloading a great game, so it's worth marking the dates down on your calendar to ensure you don't miss out.

Equally, you shouldn't forget that two of the games included are from the Xbox 360 era, and that means both titles can be played on your Xbox One thanks to the console's backwards compatibility features.

Plus, now that the Xbox One has a dedicated Xbox 360 backwards compatibility store, you can easily search for, find, and download these games should you forget to download them for free during Games with Gold.
