Your Netflix subscription is about to get pricier. ‬

It’s a 13% to 18% increase.

‪The popular streaming service announced that it will raise prices across its U.S. plans for new subscribers on Tuesday, and for existing users over the next three months. ‬

‪Netflix’s most popular plan, previously $10.99 a month for two HD streams, will rise to $12.99. The cheapest $7.99 non-HD plan will now be $8.99, while the premium option that allowed four simultaneous streams in 4K will rise to $15.99 per month from $13.99. ‬

Netflix is raising the rates to fund its push into original programming. It was reported by The Economist last year that the company was spending between $12 billion and $13 billion on original programming in 2018, releasing popular films such as "Bird Box" and "Roma" as well as new seasons of TV shows like "13 Reasons Why," "Orange is the New Black" and "Marvel's Daredevil."

Netflix has become a content powerhouse over the last few years.

“We change pricing from time to time as we continue investing in great entertainment and improving the overall Netflix experience for the benefit of our members,” a Netflix spokesperson said in a statement to USA TODAY.

The company plans to notify existing users by email and in the app of the price increase. Tuesday's price hike is the fourth time the company has raised its prices in the U.S., the last hike coming in 2017.

In September, the company said it had 58 million U.S. subscribers.

The move comes amid growing competition in the streaming space in 2019. AT&T, now the owners of Time Warner's vast content library (including HBO), plans to launch a streaming offering later this year. As does Disney, which is in the process of acquiring 21st Century Fox's movie and TV studios.

More reason to pirate  anything on Netflix  you can find not on Netflix even  the non English shows with English subtitles,  i find most of there stuff suck anyway like all the tv shows  they saved when the networks canceled them were not as good as when the network done them . Also  there are a bunch of Pirate IPTV  subs for less than $10 a month  , Disney is going pull all there stuff off Netflix as soon as they start there streaming service   , so is France  going to pull most French shows in France and going put on there own Eu service . They say that a bunch of new services  will be coming out soon pulling all the shows off Netflix and soon it going cost a $100  to watch what you do paying for less than $20 for Netflix now .When this happens and it will because  they all want a piece of the pie and networks are not going sit back and let   Netflix make all the money on there shows, you may as well go back to buying cable .

it's not just the USA ether they already done this in Canada   the cheapest plan there is $9.99  Canadian a month.
