I think Dr. Web will score good if tested too. Avira, Avast, GDATA and ESET perform good at detections but not in cleaning.

For ESET you are right. I don't use it too often for removing infections(also scannin pc).

God knows, I'm not a prophet. :P

But yea I feel that Kas, ESET and Norton have the best chances.

Oh sorry i not explicate that good. In the end of the year is make a sumary of all tests of av-comparatives and is elected "the best of the year" > This year more test will be performed. Good for us!

Thanx for the link. I wasn't knowin about it. As I said it would be from three if I have mentioned. But this year, somehow, I feel ESET is not at it's best.

Personally i think Kaspersky and ESET is not scoring good because they are mainstream.... you know... when you are at the top, you is the target. Kaspersky and ESET is the most popular AVs in the last years... so when malware writers is doing their job they always is more worried in evade detection of this two. But who knows? Now with norton and Avast coming from the mid pack and going to the top along side with the others we have more options at least.

Well in some points you are right but I don't understand this, if a hacker codes a trojan/virus, he would target all the AV's.

why you would worry evade detection for escan? how much people use this? Now how much people use KAV/ESET? if you pack/obfuscate or anything like that and you defeat the best currently heuristics/detections methods, you already have a chance to defeat the others. But i not have knowledge in write malware so i think you are right.

Anyway have 2 more test here:

@someone: Thanx for the link.

@dcs18: To be really honest. I have never used v2 of ESET.

I was not knowin about any AV called ESET before a year ago. When my PC was infected by a autorun virus. A chief in a manufacturing recommended to use ESET. And here I'm, usin it happily. The best thin I like about ESET is it's low resources. ;)

@ DKT27

Current version is V4.0.468. More than 2 years ago V2 prevailed and the last version was V2.70.39. The V2 actually launched NOD32 into the top 3 at that time. thumbs-up10.gif

Changelog (I could be wrong):-

* Fixed: External driver injection in ESET SysRescue on Microsoft Windows 7 RC fails when this option is selected in the advanced mode of ESET SysRescue wizard

* Fixed: Error sending a file via "Send to" in the right-click menu. The problem only occurs in combination of Microsoft Windows XP and Microsoft Outlook 2003 when the Microsoft Outlook process is not running.

* Fixed a issue required for the trial mechanism

* Fixed: Mozilla Thunderbird with IMAP account freezes when a virus-laden message is received

* Improved: Compatibility with server operating systems

* Improved: HTTP scanning compatibility

* Other minor fixes and improvements
