The AchieVer
The PA “spends over seven percent of its annual budget on monthly salaries to Palestinian terrorists and their families." Israel's ambassador to the UN Danny Danon called on Saturday for the UN Security Council to discuss last week's attacks in Israel, recognize them as terrorism and condemn them immediately. In a letter to the 15-member Security Council, Danon said that the Palestinian Authority has “inspired these perpetrators, many of them very young, with its vicious incitement campaign.” Characterizing the PA leadership's "calls for tolerance and peace nothing more than hollow rhetoric,” Danon noted that under PA President Mahmoud Abbas, the PA “spends over seven percent of its annual budget on monthly salaries to Palestinian terrorists and their families." Abbas' actions “demonstrably undermine stability in the region,” he wrote. “In response, Israel reserves the right to protect its citizens.” Danon told The Post that “the time for rhetoric is over, it is time for the international community to act against these terror operations in Judea and Samaria, and in Gaza.” Danon sent a similar letter to the UN Security Council in October following a terrorist attack in the Barkan industrial area that killed Kim Levengrond-Yehezkel and Ziv Hajbi. No Security Council condemnation was forthcoming. The Security Council is scheduled on Wednesday to discuss the tunnels that Hezbollah dug into Israel from Lebanon.
