Windows 10 19H1 to Bring New Task Manager Features

The built-in Task Manager is a tool that comes in extremely handy for power users in Windows 10, and all the subtle tweaks that Microsoft has implemented lately make it an even more useful application.

And the software giant just doesn’t want to stop here, so in the next Windows 10 update, Task Manager is projected to receive another welcome improvement.

As discovered by Albacore, the Task Manager will get a new feature that will allow users to choose the default tab when launching it.

Right now, when opening Task Manager, the app defaults to the processes tab, which is the first in the list, followed by the rest, including performance, app history, startup, and users.

But beginning with Windows 10 19H1, you can choose any of these other tabs to be the default one when running Task Manager, so you’ll get to see the information you’re typically interested in much faster.Already available for insidersThe feature is already available in the most recent preview build for insiders, namely build 18298, and it is likely to make it to the final version of Windows 10 19H1 expected next year.

While Microsoft bringing new features to the Task Manager is definitely welcome, early Windows 10 version 1809 adopters also found out the hard way that the company should also pay more attention to bugs affecting this application.

The October update launched with at least two known Task Manager issues, one of which caused the arrow indicator in the processes tab to blink continuously. Microsoft was aware of the bug since the update was in the preview stage, but it somehow escaped unfixed and made it to all users.

Windows 10 19H1 is projected to be finalized in March, so Microsoft still has enough time to refine the experience with Task Manager and make sure everything is working correctly for everyone.
