Matrix
Remember Google+? If not, you're far from alone - the much-criticized social network got off to a rocky start when it first launched in 2012, and though it's always retained a sizable core userbase, it has shrunk considerably. As such, Google decided to put the service out to pasture following a data leak earlier this year. Google+ was slated for closure (to consumers) in August 2019, but unfortunately for the platform's remaining users, Google has bumped that date up by four months to April. This decision wasn't made at random, of course - its cause is yet another data leak. The leak affected a whopping 52.5 million Google+ users and would have exposed relatively non-sensitive information (with a few exceptions) such as names, email addresses, ages, and occupations; regardless of their privacy settings. "...we have also decided to accelerate the sunsetting of consumer Google+ from August 2019 to April 2019." "With the discovery of this new bug, we have decided to expedite the shut-down of all Google+ APIs; this will occur within the next 90 days," Google announced. "In addition, we have also decided to accelerate the sunsetting of consumer Google+ from August 2019 to April 2019." This expedited shutdown will undoubtedly upset some of Google+'s most loyal users (and the platform's third-party developers), but it sounds like it's for the best. Google seems to be unable or unwilling to give the platform the resources it would need for long-term security given its dwindling user numbers and impending shutdown. source
The AchieVer
Google+ to now shut down in April after finding a new privacy bug that affected 52.5M users lphabet's Google said on Monday it would shut down its Google+ social media service in April, four months ahead of schedule, after finding a software flaw for the second time this year that allowed partner apps to access its users' private data. However, Google said in a blog post that it found no evidence that any other apps had accessed the data, such as name, email, gender and age, using the latest bug. It affected 52.5 million Google+ accounts, including those of some business customers, for six days after it was introduced last month, Google said. The disclosure comes a day before Chief Executive Sundar Pichai is set to testify before the House Judiciary Committee of the U.S. Congress about Google's data collection practices. Some U.S. lawmakers from both major political parties have called for new privacy rules to better control Google, Facebook Inc and other large technology companies. In October, the company said it would shut down the consumer version of Google+ in August 2019 because it would be too challenging to maintain the unpopular service. At the time, it said profile data from up to 500,000 users might have been exposed to partner apps by a bug that was present for more than two years.Apps that pull data from Google+ to personalize their own services with user authorization will lose access in 90 days, the company said. Developing Google+ for business customers would remain a focus, it added. source

mjall
can't disagree, I remember at the beginning how exclusive they made it that one needs an invite only to be able to register as if it's a rocket science discovery by them, I tried it and deleted my account in one day, its crappy and unfriendly, also lacks a motive to use
