This update is only available for insiders in the RP ring

Microsoft has reportedly re-released Windows 10 cumulative updateKB4469342 to users in the Windows Insider program and enrolled in the Release Preview ring.

While the company itself hasn’t provided any information on what’s new in this cumulative update, this is the second version of KB4469342 after the first one was pushed to the same insiders in mid-November.

But as reported by WZor on Twitter, this updated version of KB4469342 increases the OS build number to 17763.167, up from 17763.165 in the case of the original update.

Most likely, Microsoft has included more fixes for Windows 10 version 1809 in this cumulative update, and the company wants to test them with help from insiders ahead of a potential release sometime in the coming days.

Public rollout later this week

There is no KB page to provide us with a closer look and what’s being fixed or improved in cumulative update KB4469342, so, for now, we just have to wait until Microsoft rolls out new updates for public users too.

This is expected to happen by the end of the month, so new updates should become available later this week, possibly on Tuesday. Microsoft originally promised to fix some specific issues in Windows 10 version 1809 (October 2018 Update) with cumulative updates that would land in “late November,” so we’re more likely getting closer to the moment the rollout would begin.

As a result, there’s a chance that this updated version of KB4469342 is just supposed to help Microsoft do one last round of testing before a cumulative update with its included fixes is published for all devices already running the October update.

It remains to be seen what issues the next cumulative update is going to address, but as Windows 10 version 1809 users discovered the hard way lately, there’s a lot to improve in this update. As a side note, the next Patch Tuesday, which will also bring new cumulative updates for Windows 10, will take place on December 11.
