nir
New SDK now available for Windows developers Even though Microsoft isn’t rolling out a new Windows 10 preview build this week, the company doesn’t want to leave developers behind, so it’s now releasing an updated SDK for version 19H1. Windows 10 SDK preview build 18282 is available for developers right now, and it can be used with Windows 10 build 18282 that was shipped last week. Microsoft explains that it has included several important changes in this SDK update, including bug fixes and under development changes to the API surface area. There are improvements for Fluent Design, the company’s new design language that is being implemented in Windows 10. Fluent Design is already available in apps and Windows 10, but Microsoft keeps improving it with further updates. This SDK will allow developers to take advantage of all these refinements, as the software giant explains below: Fluent Design improvements “In this Preview SDK we’ll be adding a blend mode to the effect graph of the AcrylicBrush called Luminosity. This blend mode will ensure that shadows don’t appear behind acrylic surfaces without a cutout. We will also be exposing a LuminosityBlendOpacity API available for tweaking that allows for more AcrylicBrush customization. By default, for those that have not specified any LuminosityBlendOpacity on their AcrylicBrushes, we have implemented some logic to ensure that the Acrylic will look as similar as it can to current 1809 acrylics. Please note that we will be updating our default brushes to account for this recipe change.” Windows 10 19H1 is projected to go live in the spring of 2019, and if everything goes according to the plan, the RTM should be signed off in March. The public rollout is projected to begin in April for users worldwide. Developers are once again playing a key role for this new OS feature update, and trying out this SDK should allow them to preview improvements coming to devices in the spring. The SDK can be downloaded from the dev section on the Windows Insider page. Source
