Microsoft says it’s not planning a new Windows 10 build

The typical weekly rollout of new Windows 10 builds as part of the Windows Insider program will be skipped this time, so do not expect any 19H1 updates in the coming days.

Microsoft’s Brand LeBlanc confirmed there are no new builds planned for insiders in the Fast ring this week, and this makes perfect sense.

Thanksgiving takes place this coming Thursday, so many of the Americans, including Microsoft engineers, will take some time off.

A new build release involves lots of preparatory work, as well as post-release tracking, as the team needs to collect information on any potential issues that insiders may discover. With a big part of the engineers spending Thanksgiving with their families, this is obviously impossible, so don’t hold your breath for a new Windows 10 build right now.

A new update could land next week, however, though it goes without saying you should expect it on Tuesday or Wednesday the earliest. As Neowin noted, all Windows 10 19H1 builds released so far received the go-ahead on Wednesday, and there’s a chance the same schedule would be used in the future as well.

Coming to everyone in spring 2019

Windows 10 19H1 is projected to be finalized in the spring of 2019. According to Microsoft’s typical roadmap, the RTM build could be signed off in March, while the public rollout should start in April, with a gradual release to bring the update to devices across the world in stages.

Right now, Windows 10 19H1 is available for insiders in the Fast ring exclusively. Both the Slow and the Release Preview rings were used by Microsoft for additional testing of Windows 10 version 1809 (October 2018 Update), after the company pulled this release due to critical bugs.

The latest 19H1 update landed last week as build 18282 and brought lots of improvements, including a new light theme on the desktop.
