nir
And what keeps you committed to the Apple ecosystem? Even though Windows 10 continues to be the number one desktop operating system worldwide, Apple’s macOS is still considered a worthy alternative. This is pretty much the same thing that happens in the case of Linux, though customers who want to invest in the Apple ecosystem need to spend a lot more money given the price of PCs running macOS. However, Apple’s market share in the PC market has remained consistent throughout the years, and surveys conducted in the last few years proved that the Cupertino-based tech giant has some of the most loyal customers out there. In other words, those who buy Apple products are very likely to stick with the brand for their next purchases, so in case you get a MacBook or an iPhone, there are big chances that your next upgrade will be a new-generation MacBook or iPhone too. This makes perfect sense when it comes to brand loyalty, especially if companies invest heavily in their products, but as far as operating systems are concerned, things have changed substantially lately. Opinions on the latest Windows 10 updates are mixed so far. While some believe that Microsoft is evolving towards a full enterprise focus with its desktop operating system, others think the company is becoming the new Apple and is investing exactly in the right parts of its software. Of course, Microsoft becoming the new Apple isn’t something we hear for the first time, and it’s more of a subjective opinion. But there’s no doubt that Windows 10 changed substantially since the first version launched in July 2015, and Windows as a whole is a completely different animal from the operating systems that were launched under the leadership of Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer. “Microsoft is the new Apple.” If you ask Microsoft fanboys, comparing Windows 10 with macOS doesn’t make any sense because Windows continues to be a platform for everyone and for everything, and in most cases, the example people use here is gaming. That’s true, Windows 10 still has a major advantage in terms of gaming, as playing games on a PC remains mostly a thing that needs to be done on Microsoft’s desktop OS. However, in the last couple of years, the number of games that landed on macOS increased significantly, and there’s no doubt this trend would continue. If macOS becomes a rival to Windows in the gaming world remains to be seen, but there’s no doubt this wouldn’t happen in the short term. Apple customers, on the other hand, claim macOS remains the better choice in terms of security because malware can’t compromise their devices. And yet, trends have changed lately. While malware has become a more common threat aimed at Apple devices, Microsoft invested aggressively in Windows 10 security, so right now, Windows Defender is one of the top antivirus products out there. Furthermore, the security feature arsenal on Windows keeps evolving, and every new feature update brings improvements that add a new security layer in the fight against malware and cybercriminals. At the end of the day, choosing between Windows 10 and macOS seems to be just a matter of choice, though there’s no doubt that someone who is ready to invest in one of the two ecosystems considers every little detail that could help or impact the way they use a computer. Apple users who have no plan of giving up on macOS, why don’t you even consider switching to Windows 10? Is there anything you’d like to see on Windows 10 or do you believe that Microsoft has no chance of building something as advanced as macOS? Let us know what you think in the box after the jump. lolsee2
Microsoft should have came up with a tool to customize your own Windows 10 interface , it seems like those lower end laptops with win 10 is quite slow ..... Honestly speaking win 7 is much better !
steven36
How is this topic even news? Bogdan Popa 80% of time his articles are based on postings he found on reddit.com, in the Windows 10 sub.. if i want to read news based on everyday reddit complaints, i will just go to reddit. I doubt any Mac OS fanboys would even be visiting softpedia.com just like I never seen no real ones on this site ..Only Apple fanboys i seen on this site so far use IOS and Microsoft killed Windows phone so that's not even and option . 3 hours ago, coromonadalix said: Even linux distros are working better than Msoft crappy win10 loll This same idiot Bogdan Popa be posting bug reports he finds on reddit.com that shows how messed up Windows 10 is day in and day out and he has the balls to tell someone to switch there OS .. . Hes a oxymoron who contradicts himself , That Windows 10 fanboy hype that they was pushing out back when Windows 10 was a baby 2015 -2016 got overshadowed form 1000s of pages of complaints in the comments of news sites. Here it is 3 years latter and still every 6 months they push out another buggy beta version and keep in mind softpedia hardly gets any comments on there site since 2016 anymore because this bloke give them bad info or rehash the few they do have are mostly windows users because he post only windows topics i would not even call news so i will call it topics. . . Why would Mac or Linux users go to softpedia to read about Windows news ? Even most Windows 10 fanboys dislike softpedia. If i'm looking for something to laugh at about Microsoft I'm going to go too ZDNet or Comupterworld were at lest they have well respected journalist . One of the Windows users in there comments at there site about sums it up about how stupid this topic is. Quote Matt Perkins • 5 hours ago First off why would someone use market share to stay with an OS or use it to ask why others don't switch to it? Most of the time the one with the highest market share is due to having the most budget computers or devices. Instead you should look at the advantages and disadvantages of each OS and ignore market share completely. For me I'm considering switching to MacOS for the simple fact that I've had to get my PC fixed twice in the last 3 years over bad updates. I've also read about how Macs go longer without needing repairs. And their updates are more consistent. Almost always you hear about the Mac getting a flaw fixed before Windows gets the same flaw fixed. Then there's also the fact Windows gets far more malware and the fact Windows generally comes with pre-installed third party software no matter how much you spend. And no matter how much you spend on Windows won't remove the ads they show. If you're not a gamer and you're willing to pay good money for a computer why would you stay with windows? If it's solely because of market share then you're a fool.
BimBamSmash
I would want to know what makes an OS "advanced", or even more "advanced" to some users. The concept of an operating system and the way it works is complex enough for me to use that phrase for just about any OS! As far as personal tastes go, I have had some experience playing around with macOS on several occasions and I liked it a lot. Thought it looked and worked great, it was easy to manage, easy to navigate, easy to update, hell, even easy to upgrade. It comes pre-installed with everything a home user could possibly need too. No bloatware, no trial crap. All good. Even better, nothing seems to get changed about the UI or the way the OS works over night and when it does, it is rolled out slow enough for the users to adapt. Love that dark theme they introduced with Mojave lately. macOS is perfect for home and basic personal use. If one is happy to shell out that much for a computer in the first place, why move to a platform that is largely known for bloatware, ads, botched updates and data collection? It has quirks and annoyances of its own though. Many of those shortcomings can be addressed with paid third party apps (paid ones, that is) but some of those should be there in the first place. My biggest complaints are the limited window management capabilities out of the box, and the oversimplification or total lack of custom firewall rules on the built-in firewall. Sure, Apple would happily remind us of their old moto here: "there is an app for that!". A paid app for basic OS functionality available on all platforms out of the box. There is also this mandatory transition to 64-bits-only architecture for apps that is going on with the platform which is ought to break many old apps and games soon. I doubt some of those will get updated to adjust, and I fully expect price tags next to those that do. Same is happening for OpenGL to Metal on the macOS too. That can't be good. Cross platform collaboration is possible but often times headache-inducing and creates only additional layers of complexity that no one needs. This statement is yet to convince some of our managers but I have seen them admit it at times. Which would I choose personally? As a sysadmin I have to know enough about all platforms to survive in my job. I would love to own and use Apple hardware and software. But for the most part they are not the best option for my line of work and entertainment, and the price is too steep for both to justify the move.
