Nguyen Phuong Khanh bested 86 other aspirants for the 2018 Miss Earth crown, making her the first woman from Vietnam to win the title since the pageant began in 2001. Khanh received her crown from Karen Ibasco, the fourth Filipino woman to bag the title, at the culmination of ceremonies staged at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on Saturday night. The pageant was beamed live to select countries covered by cable channel Fox Life and other broadcast partners in South America, Europe, Africa, North America, and the Middle East. The pageant also crowned “elemental queens” — Miss Earth-Air Melaniec Mader from Austria, Miss Earth-Water Valeria Ayos from Colombia, and Miss Earth-Fire Melissa Flores from Mexico. Khanh will travel the world to promote the pageant’s advocacy of spreading environmental awareness. Ibasco went to 10 countries during her reign to participate in projects that help save the environment. Source
