nir
More customization goodies available for Windows 10 users Microsoft has just released a new wallpaper pack for Windows 10 users, providing them with more customization options on the desktop. Called Hay Hay Hay, the wallpaper pack is offered as a free theme on the Microsoft Store, and it includes 18 different high-quality images. Despite being archived in a theme package, it’s important to note that all you get are the desktop backgrounds, so no sounds or other customization options are available now. Windows 10 Fall Creators Update and newer are supported, so you must be running a Windows 10 version that still receives updates. Microsoft pulled the plug on the Creators Update earlier this month, and in case you haven’t upgraded your device to the Fall Creators Update or later, you must do this as soon as possible. Without support, your Windows 10 version isn’t getting any patches, so in case vulnerabilities or issues are discovered in the OS, they wouldn’t be fixed. Wallpapers and themes on the Microsoft Store As for the wallpapers, you can easily install them from the Microsoft Store using the link above. To enable it, launch the Settings app and to go Personalization > Themes. In the drop-down menu, select Hay Hay Hay to change the wallpaper instantly. You can then cycle between wallpapers using context menu options – just right-click the desktop and you can go to the next wallpaper. Microsoft keeps releasing free themes and wallpapers for Windows 10 users regularly, and this can only be a good thing given that customization content has always been received well by the community of users. Needless to say, you can always get your own desktop wallpaper from the million sources out there, as setting a new background only comes down to just a few clicks. However, Microsoft wants the Microsoft Store to become the one destination for everything, and releasing such content is part of the plan to convince more users to give it a try. nir
Microsoft Releases Three New Wallpaper Packs for Windows 10 They are available for download right now from the Store Microsoft has just released three new wallpaper packs for Windows 10, and they can all be downloaded right now from the Microsoft Store. The themes are called Snow Sculptures, Warm Winter Nights, and Festival of Lights, and include high-quality photos that can be used as a background on your desktop. Although they are released as themes on the Microsoft Store, these new packs do not include anything else besides wallpapers, so no other visual modifications or sounds would be applied if you install them. At least Windows 10 Creators Update (version 1703) is required to install the free themes from the Microsoft Store, though there are big chances you’re already on the Fall Creators Update. Microsoft no longer supports the Creators Update unless you are running the Education and Enterprise SKUs, so most home users who are particularly targeted by free themes are already on supported builds. Free themes on the Microsoft Store The free themes published by Microsoft on the Microsoft Store are available free of charge and can be enabled from Settings > Personalization > Themes. Don’t forget to back up your current customized theme in Windows 10 before making any changes. Once you set up a specific theme as the new default in Windows 10, you can cycle between wallpapers right from the desktop. Simply right-click the desktop and click “Next background” to change the wallpaper with a new one included in the background. Needless to say, a wide variety of themes can also be found online, and wallpapers for the Windows 10 desktop are pretty much everywhere you look. However, downloading Microsoft’s packs is easier given they’re published on the Microsoft Store, plus the quality of the backgrounds is typically pretty high. You can download the themes from the Microsoft Store by clicking the links above, and a Microsoft account is needed to connect to the Store.
