The Time Warner Center in New York City, where CNN offices are located, was evacuated for the second time in two days after the New York Police Department responded to reports of a suspicious package on Thursday night.

The second incident took place one day after a suspicious package was found in the same building on Wednesday morning, according to the NYPD.

The initial package contained what seemed to be a "live explosive device," as well as an envelope with white powder, according to New York Police Commissioner James P. O'Neill.

The package was reportedly addressed to former CIA Director John Brennan, a source confirmed to CBS News senior national security analyst Fran Townsend. Brennan has made television appearances and works as an analyst for NBC News since retiring from a career in government.

"The situation at the Time Warner Center was clearly an act of terror attempting to undermine our free press and intimidate New Yorkers," said New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio. "But the people of this city have shown time and again that they stand up in the face of terror."

Newsweek will have more information on this story as it develops.
