Microsoft has stopped the spread of Windows Update 10 October 2018 Update (version 1809)
 Microsoft has suspended the distribution of Windows 10 October 2018 Update to determine the reasons for deleting user files after the update.  Earlier it was reported that when upgrading to version 1809, documents and other files in the profile can be deleted.
 On October 2, Microsoft announced that Windows Update 10 October 2018 Update is available for manual download.  Users could install Windows 10 (version 1809) by manually checking for updates on Windows Update, as well as using the Media Creation Tool and the Windows 10 Update Assistant.
 

 Stopping the spread of Windows 10 October 2018 Update
 On October 6, all the official ways to manually upgrade to Windows 10 (version 1809) stopped working.
 When you try to check the update manually in Windows 10 (version 1803), by selecting Check for updates in the Options> Update and Security menu, the Update to Windows 10 function, version 1809 is not detected.
 When you run the Media Creation Tool version of the MediaCreationTool1809.exe utility, it reports that you need to download and run the latest version.  After switching to the official website, the link “Download updated media creation tool” downloads the old version of the tool - MediaCreationTool1803.exe.
 A newer version of this tool is available.  To continue, you need to download and run the latest version.
 The Windows 10 Upgrade Assistant when running on Windows 10 (version 1803) also reports that the latest version of the system is already installed on the computer.
 Thank you for upgrading to the latest version of Windows 10.
 The ability to download ISO images of Windows 10 October 2018 Update has also been removed from the official Microsoft website.
 Note:  Windows 10 October 2018 Update (version 1809) can be downloaded from official Microsoft servers using the Windows ISO Downloader utility and the TechBench by WZT service.

 Microsoft investigates file deletion incidents during an update.
 Microsoft officially confirmed the suspension of the update:
 We have suspended the deployment of Windows Update October 10, 2018 Update (version 1809) for all users, because we are studying individual reports that in some cases user files are deleted after the update. If you manually downloaded the Windows ISO image October 10, 2018 Update, please  Do not install the system, but wait for the new installation files to appear.
 Earlier it was reported that when upgrading to Windows 10 October 2018 Update (version 1809), documents and other files in the user profile can be deleted.
