Administrator DKT27 Posted September 29, 2009 Administrator Share Posted September 29, 2009 Facebook removes "Should Obama be killed?" pollAll human life is to be seen on Facebook. Which, for some, is not necessarily a good thing.Facebook has removed a poll asking "Should Obama be killed?" But not before at least 730 people took part in the poll. The poll offered four potential answers to the question: "Yes", "No", "Maybe," and "If he cuts my health care."The Plum Line, a Washington Post site, reports that the Secret Service has begun an investigation into who might have been behind such an imaginative exercise. It appears that a blog called the Political Carnival first noticed the poll and alerted the Secret Service over the weekend.Facebook is increasingly becoming a popular forum for all kinds of hateful speech--from Holocaust Denial Groups to anti-Muslim organizations. Groups purporting to hate specific individuals have also found a home on Facebook, and the company has not found it easy to keep up with the amount of policing that is required to cover more than 300 million members. However, this poll will represent for many an entirely new dimension in human dementia. It will be interesting to see how quickly the source is located and who that source might turn out to be.Facebook's Barry Schnitt told me in an e-mail that while the site doesn't comment on actions against individual users, "penalties for posting content in violation of our policies range from warnings to temporarily or permanently disabling accounts." He also confirmed that the site is working with the Secret Service but couldn't provide any details of their investigation. As to the source of the poll, he said: "The third-party application that enabled an individual user to create the offensive poll was brought to our attention this morning (Monday). It was immediately suspended while the inappropriate content could be removed by the developer and until such time as the developer institutes better procedures to monitor their user-generated content."Source

Administrator DKT27 Posted September 30, 2009 Author Administrator Share Posted September 30, 2009 Well as I have mentioned before, Obama didn't do good for some people, example for Indians. Many of his polices were for US that were in one way against Indian workers connected to US or even workin in US. Keepin everythin in mind I don't like him but he's not the person I hate at all.Even after that I cannot even think of hearin a poll to kill a person. It's bullsh*t. It's senseless. Why would you wanna kill a person? Forget Obama, thinkin or killin anyone is a sin.

LeetPirate
Why is the secret service talking like they are doing some kind of elite recon to find out who posted it? As if you could hide anything on facebook to begin with. All they have to do anyway is simply ask the facebook staff for information on the user account, end of story, is that so hard? They want to play on words to make their jobs feel important but in reality even a 5 year old could accomplish this task. :D

DaBrain
Wait, it is a crime to do this? What about free speech? It is stupid and all, but do the Secret Service have the right to try to track down whoever did this?
Administrator DKT27 Posted September 30, 2009 Author Administrator Share Posted September 30, 2009 @Leet: You are totally right. Well give me the salary and their job, I can track him/her down, reach his/her's place in a day, and make an arrest. ANW I'm goin too far.@DaBrain: Answer to all of your questions is yes. HX1
Wait, it is a crime to do this? What about free speech? It is stupid and all, but do the Secret Service have the right to try to track down whoever did this? The Amercian Constitution DOES protect a person's right.. It IS NOT nor will ever be a crime to express how you feel .. nor will it ever be a crime to use these words to express yourself..Not advisable.. but not a crime..I mean people can take that in several ways...and you never know when the traumatized are going to get to it before you will..Fact of the matter is .. not everyone is simply expressing the stress put on them by dealing with the subject matter.. Some people. say racist, extremist groups, demonstrators who want to really show the world something..people connected to other groups and not afraid to act openly on their own objectives..Also you have groups who drive people or facilitate a certain manner of thinking, using several things to twist perspectives.. In this effect every lunatic out there with a scorched earth..end of days policy is going for the throat.. because they finally have something to point at and a target to go for.. Why a peaceful demonstrations..protests and all of sorts are watched so carefully.. you while they preach about all of the lying they themselves have to do the same.. to rally for their cause..But yeah anyway.. it is legal for the SS to go after anything that may threaten the life of the president.. to at least investigate.. While it may seem like the stupid thing to post and then go do.. its a twisted mess out there that can hand you several factors... and yes there actually could be a real threat.. even a group of individuals who's movement may need to be tracked because of their involvement and the motivation which can sway in a seconds notice to be involved in so much more to achieve their original goals.. IF it is nothing then who has what to worry about.. on either side..Its a lessen in acting rationally and thinking about what you do..simple really..
