KRS
Yesterday, HMD Global announced a refresh of its lower-end Nokia smartphone lineup, by unveiling the Nokia 2.1, 3.1, and 5.1. These handsets are targeted towards budget-conscious customers, given that the most expensive of the trio, the Nokia 5.1 with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage costs around $250. Apart from this refresh, the company also made another announcement, saying that all current Nokia Android handsets will get the upcoming Android P update. As noted by Android Authority, HMD Global has promised that the Android P update will be rolled out to all of its current-gen and last-gen Android handsets. While this obviously includes the newer Nokia 2.1, 3.1, 5.1, 6.1, 7 Plus, and 8 Sirocco, it also doesn't leave out older models such as the Nokia 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, and 8. The fact that HMD Global has committed to rolling out the yet-unnamed Android P update ahead of its release will likely be welcomed by Nokia fans, however, it remains to be seen how quick the company is to release the update, given the notoriously high levels of fragmentation in the Android ecosystem.
