mona
Good news is : Gmail didn't even bother to put those emails in front of my sight. Both emails were sent directly to hell ( SPAM ) .

In order to have that feature still available I'm forced to use an ancient simplified html version of gmail page stripped from many newer features. I need to sign out though, since I use separate gmail accounts for different purposes. BTW If there is someone who knows how to sign out from online gmail in its latest version - please let me know ! mona
@dcs18 thank you for the nice screeshot. However in my (mobile) browser (let it be FF or Chrome) it does look a bit differently : Hitting #1 doesn't open a menu, but works as a link and opens this site. While #2 opens a configuration and settings menu . As you can see there are no other options available in my (current, not the simplified one) gmail version. I wonder why my version is so different ? mona
@dMog are you talking about Gmail client as a separate program or an online Gmail which basically is just a page opened in a browser ? My screenshot referes to online Gmail in my browser.
dMog
my post was about the client in a window...however, i did find this link https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=how+to+log+out+gmail+on+android+app&qpvt=how+to+log+out+gmail+on+android+app&FORM=VDRE it does seem very convoluted to log out and log in with a different Gmail identity...perhaps Google will eventually make this a simple operation for those who require it
mona
@dMog I guess the opposite. I have the feeling the sign out button was removed purposedly, just to make people stay logged in all the time (google needs it to gather PERSONALIZED data on user's online activity). The ass-holes ! Take a look here - how easy accessible the said button was in the old simple html version : Anyhow : Thanx for the list of vids. Need some more time to go through the whole list, however on the first glance it looks like they refer to Android Gmail APP mainly. Hope I'm gonna find instructions for the browser too. dMog
@mona..i looked a few..and as you say, not ANY is offering an easy or quick log on/ log off. suggest you find a client that allows quick and easy log on log off...and TELL GOOGLE WHY YOU QUIT THEM..there has to be something out there
mona
@dMog I have it organised this way : I have got 2 e-mail accounts which I open in native Android Gmail APP - these are e-mail addresses I use for registering program's licenses and memberships in various online forums, sites and services. There are no personal data like contacts or such there. Then I do have a dedicated e-mail addresses : 1. that I use for banking, payments and online shopping exclusively, 2. one I created for nsane to somehow replace forums' not enough private PM, 3. and the last but not the least - my main most protected and private e-mail address, used for personal contacts with family and friends. These last 3 e-mail addresses I would never open from Android Gmail APP/client. I use my browsers for them only. And here it comes where signing out is being important. To switch the e-mail accounts I need to log out first. Generally this whole system works great except one unavoidable downside - I'm not getting notifications upon arrival of my private (most important) messages, but instead being flooded by almost useless ones from online sites/forums/services (sent by Android Gmail app). sixoclock
I am still waiting for the Nigerian Prince to mail me the boatload of cash he pinky promised me two years ago Hey Prince, if you see this on this forum, call me ... You have my number and address, there is no reason not to mail me the cash you pinky promised. Don't make me go to Nigeria and cut off your pinky. With their clients you would be very fine i think, you are smart. I know it's hard to try not to use gmail or other similar evil mail, for me it was really "boring", but to the end you will feel like a little more free. All the best dear. mona
Thanks for your suggestion @jamesDDI . I know you are right but you know - old habits die hard. For a good start I should at least move 2 of my email accounts : 1.financial and 2.private correspondence inbox. Two questions though : 1. Gmail has got excellent spam filters. How about this feature in the services you've mentioned ? 2. Is there an option to move one's old emails to a new provider too ? It would certainly make my decission a bit easier.....
