LOL : Here is the latest proper version:

Personally, I prefer Snagit :

https://www.techsmith.com/blog/color-picker/

Or, If you need you could give it a try to HyperSnap :

Wish you good luck ! ;)

It seems many of our forum members are not liking it. But have one more listed on FP that does it too.

I also use FastStone for screen capture.

But for color picking, standalone tools are better, offering full functionality. A good such choice is the free and portable JustColorPicker.

Just additional information and link:

http://annystudio.com/software/colorpicker/

"Just Color Picker, identifying the colours, saving, editing and combining them into beautiful colour combinations is a quick and simple job.

One of the main advantages of Just Color Picker is that it was created by a person who uses it on an everyday basis. It is software for designers and digital artists created by a designer and digital artist."

have a look at https://www.sttmedia.com/pipette which I use all the time if needed

Just additional information from the same link above:

"Often, one would like to use a color from a photograph or an image in another context, for example for a font next to the picture or to adapt the color in its nuances.

Precisely for these tasks our program, the pipette, available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, is made for."
