humble3d
Computer virus infects US military drone fleet A computer virus has reportedly infected the US military drone fleet, Wired DOT com reported, citing three sources familiar with the matter. The military’s Host Based Security System detected the virus two weeks ago, according to the news outlet, which added that it so far has not appeared to affect overseas missions by either interfering with pilots’ navigation or leaking classified information. Network security specialists, however, tell Wired that the virus keeps returning to computers at Creech Air Force Base in Nevada despite repeated attempts to remove it. “We keep wiping it off, and it keeps coming back,” a source familiar with the network infection said. “We think it’s benign. But we just don’t know.” http://midnightinthedesert.com/computer-virus-infects-us-military-drone-fleet/

tao
From an article dated October 09, 2017 ("US drone fleet hit by computer virus or probable hack"): "The military’s Host Based Security System detected the virus two weeks ago, according to the news outlet, which added that it so far has not appeared to affect overseas missions by either interfering with pilots' navigation or leaking classified information." Two weeks ago is not in 2011.

Two weeks ago is not in 2011. read before posting and see if the one dated in 2011 dont say the same thing as the one from 2017 2017 Quote Network security specialists, however, tell Wired that the virus keeps returning to computers at Creech Air Force Base in Nevada despite repeated attempts to remove it. The post from wired is dated 2011 https://www.wired.com/2011/10/virus-hits-drone-fleet/ 2011 Quote The virus, first detected nearly two weeks ago by the military’s Host-Based Security System, has not prevented pilots at Creech Air Force Base in Nevada from flying their missions overseas. Nor have there been any confirmed incidents of classified information being lost or sent to an outside source. But the virus has resisted multiple efforts to remove it from Creech’s computers, network security specialists say. And the infection underscores the ongoing security risks in what has become the US military’s most important weapons system. “We keep wiping it off, and it keeps coming back,” says a source familiar with the network infection, one of three that told Danger Room about the virus. “We think it’s benign. But we just don’t know.”
tao
Can't it happen again and again (like other virii, floods, fires ...)? Is there any other corroborating evidence that it didn't happen in 2017? Thanks.

That may be what most Anti USA people may wish for, but it's not relevant today because they used a article from 2011 to write about it. So the joke is on anyone who believed it. I checked it out i soon as i seen it. I hate too be a party pooper but even the Hill reposted it and it got posted at reddit.com and The Hill deleted it because its old outdated news . Thanks Yes here they admit it was a mistake. Source: http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/us-military-drone-fleet-infected-by-computer-virus-that-keeps-coming-back-1642319 Quote A 2009 Nevada Desert Experience protest against drone attacks on Pakistan by the United States of America resulted in the convictions of the "Creech 14" (e.g., Father Louie Vitale, Kathy Kelly, and John Dear) arrested on the base for trespassing and sentenced on January 27, 2011 for time served (a 2009 protest was also held.) In 2011, keystroke logging software had infected UAV ground stations[where?] ("believed to have spread through...removable drives"),and the Twenty-Fourth Air Force was alerted to the problem by an article in Wired magazine. (The virus "posed no threat to our operational mission".) In 2012, the ceremony in which the 99th Security Forces Group "stands down" also activated the 799th Air Base Group at Creech. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creech_Air_Force_Base

No not really, they are from the UK what they posted was true in 2011 there not the ones who reposted it and they helped the US Air Force out by leaking it but it was never no threat too there mission. I think there like most publications there pro whistle blower and anti censorship. In the EU they have a right too forget sites can get in trouble over there for reposting old news in the USA they post anything true or not they have no laws like that all these news sites do it for money from ads or paywalls and write the same stuff over and over again on 100s of sites even its not true or not even relevant today.
