Just wondering why there is no section of the forum dedicated to Gamer's Chat, Game Downloads, Portable Games, etc.

I'm not a gamer but a game area could be useful, many users are asking for it. On Discord, many Portable games are already available and could be shared here.

Good question! Good question! This section is about 90% of global software.

@0bin there is much more material which is only 20-100 - max. 500 MB. It is depend on your choice how you decide to share. In this section should be allowed two ways sharing - magnet and link.

The latest games I am exploring right now are not protected! They are in two conditions - demo or full. I am feeling so strange in sin, so I stay away from sharing this kind of "soft". They are so beautiful.... I am looking like demon beside them. :(

Games are essentially programs.

i remember i downloaded some games from the softwares updates forum posted by @Kobol

Games get updates, patches and medicines just like other programs, so i dont see any problem being them posted in the softwares updates forum

it's true that a dedicated section is better but i think it depends on the amount of posts created for games.

if more guys creates lots of games threads, i'm sure a new games section will be self-imposed

Please also note that this forum is softwares oriented. i think most members here are more interseted by softwares/utilities/tools than any other stuff

take a look at Entertainment and mobile sections: barely alive! (special thanks to some guys there)

anyway, i'm with you guys. i only think games posts should drastically increase to suggest admins a new dedicated section :)

btw. i'm not a gamer too! i only download some for my family :)

maybe there's not enough demand for it. same as movies or music. but meh. not that i really care. not much time for gaming lately and when i do need a game/movie/music  i know where to get it. so i'm ok with nsane having a clear focus.

some forums spread out too thin and end up either choke full of dead links or being bombarded from all sides

and finally why don't we have a porn section? ...why do we need a porn section? (shrug)

Yup.. a 26 year old hypocrite with a Major in Criminology.

I get most of her games and updates here.

It was considered to replace General News with gaming news. But seeing how some of the gaming news have received not much interest, we decided that current method of posting gaming related news in Technology News is enough. Same with Technology Talk.

Entertainment Exchange is basically for movies chat and such things.

Video downloads can be posted in Download Link Library > Videos. Similarly, gaming downloads can be posted in Download Links Library > Others.

If more people post gaming news / downloads and talk about gaming more then we can still consider adding special section for them.

We are different people with varying interest, outlook and hobby.

Just like the mobile section, some asked for it, others opposed it, but it only proves how many members  patronize it when they gave it its own section.

You don't need to be a gamer to see the need of other members, be it for their own entertainment or for their families.

Why not open a preview/testing category and know if nsaners are interested? When u don't have a games section and if the games are posted in different categories[s/w archive, direct downloads, entertainment exchange, tech talk,....] and messed up, how nsaners/any reader would be interested to search and locate it and show their interest?

Also, I wonder why Admins / nsane team didn't think this way:

Being a forum with more windows sections and more windows users, why can't there be more gamers among our windows users[fyi:windows tops steam stats]?

Let us give a chance. If the results are not par in a month/two, we could roll back the location of threads.

@DKT27 and nsaners:  I'd request for a poll to decide the exact majority of nsaners interested for games section. Also, I wonder, why it isn't done yet from nsane team? Why are they expecting members to open a poll. If it is official we could get more suggestions and true opinions of nsaners incl. new members joining every few hours...

Any new forum will require a lot of efforts, guidelines and such things with them. Too much of an effort. First we need more members being interested in it, interest, which should come normally, not through asking and such.

I will look what can be done, but still, no new forums before that.

Because uploading 50 GB medium on any file host to be deleted with a week is prohibitive time waste for anyone, instead the link to the magnet with description of the game and description of the protection could fit, could.

Your point is:

1. Share via magnet link  <- I agree with this

2. Categorize the game according to protection. <- I would only care for protection if it's of an online based game (MMO or MMORPG but not MMOW and SNG) like nProtect Gameguard, Valve Anti-cheat (steam only?), PunkBuster, Easy AntiCheat (it f*cked Watch Dog 2), HackShield, Warden () and Battle App (formerly Battle.net 2.0, not a protection but a platform service) and we need to hack, crack or bypass it which we don't do here in nSane as it is against our forum policy. I rather have it categorize by year range (2000-2006, 2007-2008,2009-2012) and by tech gen (dos, linux, xp, windows 7 and up, ps, xbox, emulators); Whatever pleases the majority is fine by me. Normally, offline games that has its own med also has its protection bypassed, so no need to get concerned with this unless you want to learn how to crack/bypass these protection.

Online games protection mentioned above are not for beginner or intermediary level  crackers as it is one that is hardest to crack/bypass. Not only it does an almost daily server patching but also logged your IP,  game ID/account and gathers system information, some much like a spyware.  One false move and if you didn't use dummy accounts then say goodbye to your spent cash/wasted time/effort of grinding/farming/upgrading. There was a college gamer that committed suicide just because he got banned (lost his account permanently) due to attempted hacking and so as all of his spent cash on his accounts which supposed to be his tuition money. Some actually able to get their money back by selling game items but in his case banned account means all characters/avatars/items deleted too.

What we can talk about the games that might be interesting without violating our forum policy (hacking or cracking :D) are ways to go over the games' system like how to create duplicate items/golds, how to increase you chance to successfully upgrade weapons/armors/accessory, game strategy/guides, secrets to mine/oil location without hacking/cracking, and modifying the games' sounds/text/graphics files; All that just  by breaking the games' systems algorithm. In other words. we are discussing the possible "codes"  (algorithm) and "bugs" (the logical flow of the game) that could be exploited inside the game "just by playing the game, no hacking/cracking needed,"  anyway whatever, as long as our considerate and tolerant admin allows us to discuss it.

@nIGHTI think u r disturbed after reading @VileTouch comment quote. U spelled "Six" as "Sex"...:D:lol:

In many forum suggestions, I've done the same consideration of comments. However, nsane team doesn't accept this since all they want are more threads, more d/w and reputations given to it. Hence, I recommend for an official poll by nsane team.

There is a reason I'm defiant in spite of so many good posts supporting it. While Lite's view is even more against it than me, my personal view is that the most promising Mobile News and Mobile Software Updates has not taken off as much it should have - we got a lot of requests for it - one or two members contributing there is not enough. The thing I'm trying to say here is that there needs to be a big amount of interest for the forums to be created.

Secondly, as I mentioned, new forums requires lots of things to be done like making of a new forums, permissions, guidelines and other thing which requires significant and time consuming efforts, which can be only done if both need and success of the the new forums is for sure.

Third, gaming section, atleast the downloads part, if we get there, be ready for loads of notices against the topics, gaming sites get loads of them and we might need to respect those.

Fourth, gaming community is far more varied than the software community. All this thanks for surely high number of gaming devices out there, from gaming consoles to mobile devices to the main PC gaming. This will create a non-dedicated, mixed and confusing section of forums - unless we all decide to stick to just PC and Android gaming.

Again. I do not see enough gaming threads in order to consider it. All the gaming news I have seen posted or posted myself have not got much attention or views from most of the visitors. For us to consider a new forums the most important part is interest, which cannot be from just 10 good members, but from interest shown from a big part of the community in the threads already posted in the forums.

In all, even if we think about making one or two, we need some threads and interest on those threads. Nothing stops you guys from making this forums a gaming forums here - by making gaming related threads like news and downloads for it - for us to consider that yes there is an interest for it.

About the Poll thread, if it is to sustain our curiosity then why not?

I think you will be the right person to create the Game Poll thread vissha, you might have a better idea how to conduct it.

About the ramification, we need to reach an agreement, so suggestion are very much welcome unless the admin do so on his convenience.

Here's mine:

If we combine all games into just few threads, searching a particular game will be a nightmare, or so I think.

The ability to give tags like "dos", "OS xp", "OS 7", "OS Linux" and "VR" can be useful if properly practiced.

There are a lot of ways to categorize these games.

We could copy google playstore category or wikipedia inspired category:

example:

Top level category by device type: "PC", "xbox", "playstation","Wii"

2nd and 3rd level category of by genre type: (source wikipedia )

Some category like MMO that our members play can be just a thread that contains a link to that games website and its forum.

Additional post on that thread may be anything like an invite to a club,  gang or alliance, or a simple intro tutorial or video link of how fun it is to play it.

My response:

First, as your post indicate there is a high demand but there are only two contributors, it's promising indeed and I also hope there will be more contributors.

It just started and I think it needs more time and encouragement.

In the w1ndows 0ff1ce section, Nr was able to cater the high demands/requests/inquiries as others joined to help him.

Mobile apps and mobile gaming must have its own section separate from  gaming. <-- my pov

Second, You can make it accessible to donators, VIP and above.  A new member that is a donator  gets a special privilege to access our game collections that seems hard to find.  For the guidelines, there is one I can propose. "PK" admin and staff first if the forum is slow and got bugs, so they can get back to fixing things. Just kidding. :P

Third, your good at it. nSane is a community where a majority belongs to middle aged group to retiring  age and above. We need to attract teens and young adults and this might be one section we can lure them here. Some do like games other likes music and art, even seen some local sites posting "karaoke" section just to attract interest. If this section doesn't appeal (game section) to you then maybe music and art section were music mixing, encoding, collection and karaoke might lure new members.

Fourth, what is considered convenient to our beloved admin and staff will be respected. We are not in a hurry so please don't feel pressured. We are not in a haste to put this up yet. We do need suggestions on how to categorize this section. Mine is on this post above. My suggestion is that the mobile apps/games and android must be separated from the games section.

Having a new section (in this case it's the "game section") might attract new bloods in our community and might benefit us as a whole or could be just an annoyance.

Gaming community tends to be boastful, argumentative, annoying, demanding, unruly and disrespectful particularly in MMORPG. But I think most sites that has a gaming section were able to control it just like our admins and staff have done in our world affairs section.

I'd love to. However, it has to be useful/acceptable for nsane team criteria for games section. If Admin say we'll consider the poll results, then I'm happy to open a poll thread ASAP.

I think u all remember this poll thread:

This one was opened just after first nasty buggy IPB 4.xx upgrade from a stable IPB 3.x.x. However, it isn't considered at all. For many issues, I've referred to this poll and Admin don't heed.

Hence, I don't want this to happen for games section too.

Again, I really appreciate all the good posts and suggestions coming here. It does help. Though the thing about a lot of forums having one is good one mentioned, but my stand is the same. We need more gaming content to consider adding gaming forums. It's not like I do not want to do it, I want to - sometimes more than you guys do, but we need some content here. Then, the staff and the admins can talk and decide over it.

Having more than one section for downloads is probably not possible. Android games for example can go into Mobile Software Updates I think.

Polls just give us an idea. Thing is, I do believe previously we have done some things based much acceptance from members on polls, but when we implemented it, it did not receive much from users.

Again, I'm looking into ways currently to check things out before we can look into making new forums for it. Meanwhile, still, I insist, members are free to post gaming news, articles, tutorials, downloads, updates and such things here.
