Knife attack after van mounts pavement in London - reports

The Prime Minister returns to Downing St for briefings as police deal with major incidents in London thought to be terrorism.

Casualties have been reported after a van mounted the pavement in central London before a stabbing attack nearby.

Just after 10pm police responded to reports of the vehicle colliding with pedestrians on London Bridge.

British Transport Police have said there are reports of "multiple casualties" on the bridge.

Shortly after that, officers said there had been reports of stabbings at Borough Market.

"Armed officers responded and shots have been fired," Met Police said.

A witness told Reuters that she saw people who may have had their throats cut.

Police are also responding to an incident in the Vauxhall area, police said at 11.45pm.

Spectator journalist Will Heaven was at London Bridge shortly after the incident and wrote on Twitter that he had seen casualties - one on the pavement and one on the edge of the road.

He told Sky News: "It was about 10.15pm I was in the back of an Uber cab driving over London Bridge...there was somebody down on the pavement with a small crowd around them clearly very concerned.

"It looked like someone had collapsed. We drove a bit further and noticed there was another person on the right hand side of the bridge who was also not on the pavement but in the road itself.

"The penny dropped something quite serious was happening.

"Suddenly the traffic came to standstill. The driver said something bad is happening here.

"We could hear sirens coming and the suddenly ahead of us we noticed another casualty in the road."

He added that "it did not look like an accident", adding it was clear that police "thought they were responding to something far more serious than a road traffic accident".

Reuters reported a witness saying she had seen people with "apparent knife wounds" on London Bridge.

Witness Nick Archer told Sky News that he had seen a man lying on the ground who "looked in a bad way" and managed to flag down one of the police vans "whizzing past".

"Officers jumped out and started tending to the guy on the floor and about three of them also started running towards the London Bridge area."

London Ambulance have said: "We're responding to this incident and more information will follow when we have it."

Police asked people to avoid the area, armed officers were seen at the scene and the bridge is closed in both directions. London Bridge, Bank, Vauxhall and Borough stations were closed, although Bank and Vauxhall have since reopened.

Tony Murphy, who is ex-military, lives near London Bridge and said: "About half an hour ago there was tremendous gunfire that started.

"I thought at first it was fireworks, then I recognised it was significant gunfire."

Sky News Home Affairs Editor Mark White said: "Certainly reports we're getting suggest that this may be terror related but that is not being confirmed by police at this stage."

Prime Minister Theresa May is returning to Downing Street to be briefed by security officials and is understood to be preparing to chair a meeting of the Government's emergency response committee - Cobra - later today.

Most of the crime in america is caused by black men.. i'm not saying ALL crime.. but MOST, especially when you have rappers talking about putting a cap in someone's ass.

Lol, I'm British born and bred, I've travelled extensively all over the world and have enjoyed seeing the wonders of other countries and cultures..What an awful tunnel vision of life you live, get out of your shell and enjoy what the world and its people have to offer!

1. Terrorist Attack.

2. Reluctance of news to report name/race/citizenship status (they don't waste any time if it's a white guy).

My sympathies to the victims, but the West has a cancerous tumor killing it from the inside, and these attacks will only intensify until that problem is removed.

 

Places like Poland stick out on a map of Europe for not being victims of terror attacks. Why? No Muslim immigration. Keep screeching about them not all being like that, refusing to accept that a significant portion of them are like that, enough to make their immigration a total net loss (and that's before we even think about the damage demographically mass immigration has done and continues to do).

In America, FBI stats throw in a bunch of ethnicities nobody considers White, into the White category, and Black crime rate still dwarfs "White" crime rate, when actual Whites are almost 6X the population of Blacks.

One thing I will say is these 3 scumbags had those fake suicide vests attached as they knew they would otherwise be taken down by members of the public due to the fact they only had knives, remember they were in an area full of bars that had plenty of men who would then arm themselves with bottles and glasses and take them down in  a blink of an eye.
