Atasas
Controversial new law could see Kodi TV box users face up to 10 YEARS in prison http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/02/08/19/3CF8FB1B00000578-0-image-a-50_1486583642634.jpg Kodi is a free service that streams apps and on-demand services onto your TV Many of the plug-ins offered host illegal streaming services for films and shows A new bill has ruled that people making the illegal content could go to prison Ten year sentences would only be applied in the most serious of criminal circumstances Thousands of people using Kodi boxes to stream illegal content in the UK could face up to 10 years in prison, thanks to a controversial new law. The Digital Economy Bill warns that people making and streaming films using torrents online will be committing a criminal offence. The news comes shortly after Amazon banned 'fully-loaded' Kodi TV boxes and other pirate devices from its global online store. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-4469678/Kodi-users-face-10-YEARS-prison.html

Dodel
Please you've even done it... Controversial new law could see Kodi TV box users face up to 10 YEARS in prison The Digital Economy Bill warns that people making and streaming films using torrents online will be committing a criminal offence. <--- THIS It's people who supply source / streams and not the end user, you can still install Kodi on any android box and pull legit streams, local networked resources. You missed the point of as how interwebz works: Get some, give some It is ever so easy to end up sharing you tiny library in return for usage (consumption) for years... would be fair? My take on this- n00bs, clueless morons, leeches decided to poke their brown nosies in to something, that is good in order to make money and justification for own existence... most likely (as poster above says) wouldn't have no guts to stand against murderers, but they want to be something- they aren't... This won't stop people from loading there own boxes at the most this would stop some noobs in the UK form buying them. but maybe not this still don't stop noobs from going online and ordering a preloaded box from outside the UK. Kodi is not the problem no way even without it there is many ways too watch streams without it . But in the end i'm afraid it's going make Kodi just another bloated Media Center were no one wants too use. if I wanted too watch legal content I would just turn on the TV and watch satellite and i dont have too worry about if my net is fast enough or buffering I even have TiVo were i can record off satellite and watch it when i want. . Besides people who run streaming sites don't care about laws in other countries they make millions of dollars from it. It's like drugs people have went too jail way longer than 10 years for selling them but it's easy money so long as there is a demand people will still sell them and people will go too jail. but streaming a movie making some site owner rich has never cause no one too die like drugs do .so I dont see it as a serious crime..Why dont the UK try too solve some real crimes instead wasting the tax payers money on this BS? The thing is this is true but in some countries they have democracy were politicians make up 1000s of silly laws a year and most of them get shit caned ..Without democracy there would be no freedom at all it would just be a land of laws . Chancer
Having read the wording of the new act, I don't believe it changes anything. An EU court ruling in 2014 said it was the stream source, not the person streaming who was breaking copyright. I don't see how the new bill changes that. For one it is 10 year sentence... murderers, child rapists get away with less Then there's the issue of attacking KODI, that in right configuration can be configured for streaming (10 years yuk) Also, there's the issue of actual hardware device in configuration being outlawed, making it necessary to configure ownself or getting a geek to configure it for the customer. Hence, the boy or else could easily set up streaming for that person without him being aware...
