RoboForm 8.3.2

Recommended Posts

RoboForm is a Password Manager and Web Form Filler that completely automates password entering and form filling. It allows you to define your personal profile or "usual" responses to a web form. This information is then saved, and when you need to fill a form, just click "Fill Forms" button, and form is filled out. Works as an add-on to Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Chrome, Firefox or Netscape web browsers.

Thanks to Siddharta for the update.

KeePass

KeePass is OK if you JUST store passwords on your pc, but honestly have you used 1Password? It's the best password manager in the world right now. the iPhone and iPad app is ... a work of art

there is a reason I run 1password even though it's not portable

my "conspiracy theory" ?

data vs. cloud <=> money vs. bank

The state has laws so that they can see when, where and how much money u're spending or saving... U can't even have money legally if u don't have a bank account nowadays.

The cloud is just the same, only for your data and a few steps behind the banking system.

The "under the mattress" data stash will become illegal. They will come for u and punish u accordingly once they find it... This is where they're going at.

Even though u're not the target, they are searching through your stuff to get to their "target"... U're just helping is the excuse they have !!!

"Click here if u agree to the TOS and u'll get the cookie" .... the TOS is a f...g book long that most people just agree to!!!

Privacy used to have a meaning... The state is trimming it to the max

I agree state is trimming privacy but I trust the math.

When one says "storing in cloud" i expect it to be like 1password or lastpass. encrypted and decrypted on CLIENT side, not server side, so we should feel safe.

u expect way too much...

I'm not expecting anything. That's how the current implementation is.

LastPass encrypts client client - Not server side. I haven't checked out 1PW 6.X but  I can all but guarantee that does the same. If you have a strong pw not written anywhere it will be brutal to crack

When using the cloud this is what u're saying: "F..k it... i have nothing to hide and i love this service that is really helpful."

You can store the encrypted DB on the cloud service of your choice if there are plugins for it. Syncing via platform apps is done on demand, which should cover most people's needs. I think the Android app gets to sync it automatically.

Keepass surpasses all password managers in that is has advanced methods of staying safe from malware and potential backdoors in obtaining the masterkey by implementing UAC into their app even when global UAC is disabled. On Windows 7 and up at least. Neither Roboform nor Lastpass feature that. And it seems not even current gen AVs feature that, this explains why ESET removed the Pause feature.

As for them encrypting client side... that wishy-washy talk. Sure they have it, but all it takes is a CIA/NSA planted backdoor to their "secure" servers and when you believe you're safe your cloud apps selfupdate with the malicious code that also sends your decryption keys and master password and you won't even know it, but you just lost all your "secure" and "private" db of passwords and other private data. And you maybe might get a whiff of what's going on with another wikileaks outing, if and when it happens.

It's really important to know your security software and where you can be exploited. If you don't, joke's on you for being delusional.

Use 1Password (v4.x not 6).

You clearly haven't used it :)

I've used it in the past... it had native code problems and had issues with Chrome ext. So I dropped it. Never again! PS: You didn't get what I wrote about above. Thanyou for proving my last point.

EM7 - try it now. It's seriously different than what you explain. The mobile apps too are a work of art.

The only 'problem  with it is that it's not portable, but some people are working on it!!

teodz,

please forgive me. I tried that one. I don't like it. I was begging around for a PAF, but even for expert-PAF'ers apparently it's been a royal PITA to make portable.

  • 1 month later...

After months of using version 8 I got the dreaded 30 day trial notification today.....

Tried reverting to version 7 with patch, but won't let me use existing online account (the one I had with version 7 before the upgrade to 8). Keeps telling me wrong login details????

LastPass free it is then from now on (with syncing across devices included). It was a nice run while it lasted

Once you have paid for a license, it is your right to enforce the purchased product. Please contact their support on this page. Do not give up your right!!! Good luck!!! ;)

As I said in my previous E:Roboform posts,  Be careful when migrating from 7 to 8 .. Once you do the online account migration your Roboform accpunt will be permanently ,migrated to 8  meaning THERE IS NO WAY GETTING BACK to 7..  It is a 1 way migration.

You will get 30 day trial notification today because V8 RoboformToGo is not free for life anymore.. but rather a monthly or yearly subscription .

I doubt this was a real purchase. Anyway the people on Siber Systems said since you migrated to 8, you've agreed to move to the new subscription system
