Firefox ExtensionsPosted Image

This thread can be used to share your Firefox extensions and add-ons which you find useful.

You may also share alterations and changes to your browse configuration as well..

I have some suggestions for this thread...that can make this process a little easier.

  • FEBE. The extension will enable you to back up your extensions and various aspects of your browser for easy installation. FEBE will also make a page which you can copy and paste as a list into the thread...
  • MR Tech Toolkit will allow you to list your extensions, plugins, and is very useful for your Firefox Browser. Many options.
  • Add-on Collector. This extension will allow you to create a Collection of your extensions, and post them on the Mozilla Site where people can subscribe to your Collection and even install these extensions. It can be shared, evaluated and voted on.

Well, it was easy and viewing the page rendered by FEBE after a backup, then viewing the source code, copy and pasting the code, then saving the post which removed all of the JP2000 type code for the icons, then editing to line break it properly..and there it was ..all proper with the links..

I wanted to note that some of those will have an issue installing on the most recent version of FF3.5.2, however if you run across this problem 'Mr Tech Local Install' can be configured to install them anyway.. It is a trial and error method as you have see if they do not cause an incompatibility issue afterwards..

  • 7 months later...

Sorry for the double-post but I wanted to post about a new extension I found yesterday that can help you go minimal with FF. Anyone who has seen my desktop and screenshots of my FF knows I don't have a lot in place.. making it nice and minimal utilizing the screen real estate and using keys to access various areas..

MiniMode which is a new experimental extension, gives users and easy access interface to maintaining the same idea. You may also be able to use this extension to minimize a number of add-ons used to accomplish the same effect.. Anyway thought I would share.. :)

EDIT: I also had a question about the Fission Bar, when coupled with one of the Strata or Skin 'Buddy' extension.. I use Tab Mix Plus.. and I know its not compatible.. Fission is however.. and what I would like to do is be able to use Fission but have the green loading line at the bottom.. that seems to only be able to be used with one of the Strata Buddy add-ons..

Does anyone know of a way to do this without installing the Strata Buddy or Dark Strata Buddy ( was actually the one I used I think )?

@ Heath28m & DKT27

Hey, how do you guys list all your Fx Extensions all at the same time? i've got over 40. Anyway to do it instantly?

I used FEBE, which will do a list of all of the extensions. I then cleaned up the code enogh to make it compatible and short and sweet with the links that it provided. Mr Tech Toolkit also has an option to do this.. but for some reason it is not working right now.. I spent time trying to get it .. but its called MyConfig, which usually will list all of your plugin and extensions..

EDIT: Got it to work, I had hidden it from the menu, but its a drop down which says MyConfig > View Config and list several items in which will create a page that you can copy and paste the text or code from the output.. However the first one I listed about:myconfig still isn't working.. ( but I really don't need it to )

SacredCultivator

I hope I'm not going out of line with my question but... For "Boss Key", what is a good setting to use for the Memory Cleanup.. As I don't quite have any usage of its other features... Unless there is a add-on that does JUST memory management as I know at times my Firefox on desktop hikes up to like 900MB's ><, even with 4GB's of RAM it is still scary to see.

As I leave my browser open for long periods of time.

Thanks.

Mine is set to..

100

0

..and the box is checked..

EDIT: I think with yours it probably uses mostly because you have more to spare and it can..

BUT I would do a fresh open of FF, and watch the Error Console afterward.. look for errors or anything.. and work through them.. if possible.. that is a huge number ..

That is the main reason I use it too though.. easy to minimize like its not there, and its ready on the go..

@heath: How is FireFTP? I'm a bit interested in it.

BTW you should get Skipscreen. :)

@heath: Thanks, when I get home from class, I'll give that a shot. As I know when it spikes to 900MB's I do notice some performance issues outside of Firefox (Slight hiccups)

@DKT27: FireFTP is okays, I still prefer having a sep. FTP Client (Filezilla) just so my Extensions don't stack up as I only use 6 at the moment.

I actually have used FireFTP extensively.. ( with all versions of my own even ) HOWEVER.. I have noticed with some FTP links ( IF you set it to automatically handle the links.. that there can be a few issues because it actually acts just as a client would and some settings which vary from server to server may not allow immediate access.. BUT I do recommend it.. it is great really.. ( and the developer team does some great things.. for needy children.. but as far as being perfect for turning FF into client.. I would suggest it . You can even set it up to store settings per connection and server .. does logging and the whole nine.. anything I ever would want out of a FTP Client.. really like it.. I don't use it that much, like say I would DTA.. but some sites which mix HTTP/S and FTP protocols usually get issues... ( and sometimes misconfigured links like when people try to post a link to a beta or alpha of FF or an update which is not official yet )... it is very fast to load.. security software scanning can impede in some instances I noticed when testing my own.. but that was several versions back.

The best I think is especially essential for portable versions..

SkipScreen I never used because every time a method comes about to make these things easier they change something at the sites..LOL.. like OMG captchas that seem to be a daily part of it now.. and with all of the recent changes of file hosts.. I just kind of forgot about it..

@Sacred Cultivator - You know I don't ever usually see anything over 300... even with two flash-based sites loaded and if I have been surfing sites from bookmarks all day for three days.. 900 is just odd.. but I have seen programs and sites cause this problem... incompatibility between them... and extensions as well... poorly written ones.. I thnk it would be worth looking into..

I'll try FireFTP. :)

If you download SkipScreen versions that we post here, on nsane, you wont get any captcha. Mozilla doesn't allow the builds that support captcha bypass on their Addons site. We on nsane, only post the official website version that bypasses all the captchas. And it's working with all the sites. :)

I will definitely give it a go.. I sometimes have downloading that goes on for seemingly DAYS.. with multi-parts .. this may take some of the 'ISSUE' out of it.. either that or a credit card.. and become an account holder..LOL

Skipscreen 4.1.12s:

Download | Direct xpi link.

If you wanna download files from Rapidsh*t then forget it. It's on RS's hands, if it has free slots, Skipscreen will autostart your download when it's available.
