We'll have a look at it, although I must say CleanCut (after me polishing the rough edges  ) is a pretty neat skin :D

The skin you proposed does look a little 'too' cheap, at some points... But as I said, we'll see :)

Well the skins we have are great.. don't get me wrong.. :) The reason I ask is because we don't have a dark skin... and this is one of the best I have seen around.. like between all the boards.. It doesn't have the Vista type shading.. when you go dark it usually doesn't look right..this one I think does.. but has a different approach/design.. to make it look right..

Thanks for having a look at it.. Hope it goes well.. ( I normally don't do this sort of thing..LOL.. nor do I normally download IPB...LOL )

I sort of have something against black skins. :(

Plus somehow I feel it doesn't suit here. But just my point of view. ;)

That's why, even if we add this dark skin, you'll keep using CleanCut ;) :D

Hey it doesn't suck...LOL .. but I do use IPB Pro Default. I dunno I just like the blue color better.. Before when my eyes give out I would use the lo-fi and a blackout button.. but now the blackout button is not compatible.. or at least I don't think yet... ( though I like having a normal day time theme too )

I am just the opposite of DK.. my system must be dark.. nothing white.. but I could style white or lighter if need be.. Still looking the right non-aero based dark style for 7.. huhh... You would totally hate my sites DK..

Even if Cethin is added I will definitely be using this on my forum too, IF I decide to install one again.. right now ( you wanna talk about a cheap look.. LOL ) I am using an iFrame embedding of Nabble and CSS...LOL Simple as it gets.. ( with 1 post - me :D ) I have to hook it all up with compatible versions of PHP between IIS 7.5 and Apache 2.2.14.. ( don't know HOW.. but ) and SQL.. if I do.. Wamp crapped out so who knows what is going to be easy .. plus 5.3.2 version of PHP has yet to yield to me...

The reason I said that, is not the looks, but hell lot of bugs and problems.

I do use sites with black theme, but I'm not fond of them(the black themes). Somehow it doesn't suit here.

BTW when I tried WAMP, I did have some problems. I liked XAMP, but takes lots of resources. So ever tried mybb? It's said to be made for coders and people who wanna customize it to the extreme.

WAMP on Windows XP is fine as long as you know how to properly configure it, unless you have at least some basic experience with it.. you may get some errors and issues...when last had it installed I had Joomla and phpBB3.. something else cant remember but it all worked like it should, even patching it up to PHP 5.3.0.. When I moved to Windows 7 .. I had some problems.. Like MySQL not starting.. could have had something to do with the version of PHP... where the configuration worked before.. and that was having it all installed at C:\wamp... so I am not for sure what the problem was... If I spent more time with it I might be able to get it going but I don't know..

I tried Wamp just last week ago. The problem was, it didn't start any of the programs like sql, phpmyadmin, etc. The tray icon had none of these options either. And it said offline. I had tried restarting. Then came to a conclusion that I need to re-install. But didn't had mood to install it again.

Yeah this kind of thing can be quite taxing.... The main thing is to make sure you have PHP configured correctly so that MySQL will run and start.. and make sure you don't have anything running on port 80.. or just your default port..or apache in the package usually defaults to that port... SO as long as you activate the correct modules in PHP it should run.. and if your ports are clear to run..

What some people miss is that if you have PHP installed on your system or for another installation of Apache or something.. WAMP will use the environmental variable location and its config file.. so no matter what you do in WAMP it still has no direct effect... So that was the first two issues.. Then in 5.3 they decided to make HP not able to run unless it had it time zone configured.. then you may have to patch your other applications ( Joomla.. w/e ) to run them with that version.. but fairly easy.. 5.3.1 and 5.3.2 not so easy..

Two things when you start it.. your have to start them and then you have to make sure you put them online..

That's why I liked XAMPP. I found it easy. :P

But my friend recommends WAMP and said it's more easy than XAMPP.

IMO I think its easier depending on how long you have been using each one and possibly which one you learned first.., usually WAMP.. will go right out of the box.. drop in the apps and install and done.. ( you may have to make a database though.. but from what I have seen of XXAMP.. there could be a few more steps involved.. possibly more options to choose.. but based on pretty much the same things.. I would probably recommend WAMP.. just because it seems less threatening at first..

Hmm. I simply have no proper experience with them. I tried XAMPP first when Biz posted a rapidleech thread. Just a few days ago I feel like trying some forum boards to have a feel of it, so I used WAMP but had this problem.

Believe it or not, this thread was created right before the forum upgraded to version 3.. Blue Solution was one of the version 2 skins...

@DK - You should check out some of the help forums and threads for WAMP and the forum your are installing and trying out... Once you get don creating databases and using the administration panel in SQL and PHP.. and learn the requirements it gets fairly easy from there..

My start was triggered by a Social site, which prompted me to get a digital book on ho to write HTML.. and Simple CSS.. from that I installed and started to use Apache... and only in the past year or two have I started to use PHP integrated items like mBot, which is a PHP based server that runs out of Miranda IM...( Completely portable ) ...Joomla, phpBB3, and probably soon IPB3.. I have tried out Vanilla, Typo3, ( don't suggest these but..); Magento, SMF, Drupal, Silverstripe.. list goes on... I then became acquainted with Plone, which is completely different... Some aspects of which I don't totally grasp.. but I atleast know how to get them running..

Point being start off simple, learn how to configure and use..Secure and then move on to some of the other stuff..I still for instance don't have the ability or knowledge on how to configure /compile certain aspects that are available through the Apache Foundation, which list goes on forever... The Web Installation PLatform will give you resources to obtain and install several different types of CMF, CMS, Blogs, .... quite a bit on the IIS 7.5 Platform which is an added feature in Windows 7 Ultimate and Vista..

I did find a nice post on a forum. But as you know the story, I had to uninstall WAMP but didn't had time/mood to install it again. But yea would surely do it.

I've half-learned HTML. And am aiming to learn everything from a site called w3schools. You must have visited it.

My friend mentioned CSS being hard when you have to apply it in real.. I asked you before but you didn't answer, what's your thoughts about mybb.

I'll keep taking it as it comes to me, also in a simple manner. :)

MyBB seems to be a simple forum.. reminds me a little of IPB2 but slightly different seemed to have familiar feel... Looking at the Demo. I haven't installed it or used/installed any mods, so I can't really say anything about it operationally speaking.. or on the skins note or on their creation.. The admin panel seems to be very similar to phpBB3.. which going on the appearance and options I think I would go with instead... but either would be a great place to start..Though I think it would probably be lower on the list than say phpBB3 or IPB3..

For the time being I have went with even a simpler means but its far from your looking at or needing to expand your knowledge with.. not nearly as professional looking..

Hmm.

Well I'm surely looking forward to make my life and career in computers. In last five years, I've not sat on computer for only for about 20-25 days in total here and there, travel and exams included. And the rest from 3 to 12 hours a day. So I'm into it. Just haven't accelerated (purposely and circumstantially) in being a developer or similar by taking myself to an advanced level.
