XPize is a GUI enhancer for Windows XP that replaces most of the non-XP icons, avis and bmps that Microsoft has always overlooked. It also includes some extras and a reloader, which you can use after visiting Windows Update.

Vize is a GUI enhancer for Windows Vista. It replaces most of the non-Vista icons, animations and bitmaps that Microsoft is still overlooking. Vize automates the process of replacing resources in system files, applying the real fit and finish to Windows Vista.

XPize ChangeLog:

* Simple Selector for easier customization and fewer risks and user confusion

* Fixes the issue where almost 25% of the icons weren't being properly patched in Release 4 (whoops!)

* Lite mode (selected automatically on non-English Windows): stops 128x128 icons from being installed to keep shell32.dll safe

* Now installs on Polish Windows

* It's about 100KB smaller than Release 4

* New stuff:

o Full Darkside IE8 support

o New Luna Element bitmaps for Explorer and GINA

o Cards.dll and Spider.exe

o Windows Desktop Search 4.x

o Luna Element shellstyles and Luna Element Black 5.1

o Royale Lite is back (along with an "XPize 3.2" selection preset for you old-skoolers)

o And various other resources

Vize Notes:

It includes all the resources patched by Vize 1.1 Beta, and then some, including the fixes developed by Saarineames ( http://saarineames.deviantart.com ), including:

* 256x256 Flip3D icon

* Fixed the back/forward button background hover stretch when in Classic mode (great for WS2008 users!)

* x64 support (untested, which is what this beta is for)

* Uses the same installation system as xpize 5

* And some other stuff

What doesn't work:

* UxTheme patching system. I need to modify my code (which is based off Deepxw's) first. Vize 1.x didn't patch UxTheme anyway so you're not missing out on anything.

What hasn't been tested:

* x64 (it should work, in theory)

* Uninstallation (it probably won't work, it doesn't change file permissions during uninstallation)

What's coming in future releases:

* Getting seasick of the blue/green combo? I'm working on something to match WS2008's silver wizard art style for Vista, including fixing up ShellStyles

* UxTheme (God willing)
