vissha
This test is a crap since all older versions with/without ransomware protection are put to test. Trend Micro should've got AV 3* and not 2* if latest version v11.0 was used. It was released in Aug. Similarly, other AV which had newer stable versions before these tests were done should have got varied results and it'd have been useful.
0veR
I know ESET is becoming shit, good thing i changed to Kaspersky. When i was using ESET on x64 Windows RAM usage sometimes go above 200MB and and also effects in perfomance and now in detection test not good year and next one for ESET. Exactly my thoughts, Microsoft's Windows defender has improved A LOT in Windows 10 anniversary update so if they'd tested it with latest Version it would have had 2-3 stars, at the very least of course. With Kaspersky's horror privacy policy, it's probably one of the worst decisions you've ever made. You are sharing everything. edit: oh, and that was just the privacy policy of the browser extension it installs. Wait till you read their full policies (main software, cloud network...) Dont care much for privacy! If i would care i would uninstalled Windows 10 the biggest spyware and installed windows 7 or XP!

Same with Microsoft, Google etc. Do you think that Kaspersky is the only one that phones-back-home? Look what happened with WOT Come on, now. Everyone, remember: security software install themselves well deep into PC's and users should be even more careful on their security software decisions. What melek posted is from an older AV-Comparatives report.

Interesting logic, with a bright future for users. Nobody implied it is O.K. It is not about what you ironically named *interested logic*. It is about REALITY. Since you care so much about Privacy over Malware Protection, do Not use any AV or any other App that phones-back-home. Others, who are even more Privacy-conscious, do Not use Internet At All. That is REALITY.
Amigaspace
Oh, with this all or nothing logic. "Don't use AV, don't use the Internet, don't use the PC"... really, that's an argument? First of all, not EVERYBODY does it - this is pure nonsense. There are excellent a/v that collect nowhere near as much as Kaspersky. I didn't criticize Kaspersky in particular (even if they are one of the worst offenders), I only criticised the "how lucky I am I switched to Kaspersky" mentality. Don't take it personally. Read the charts, read the data and the reports. Not everybody behaves the same - that's the reality.
pc71520
1. To what specific AVs are you referring to? 2. Do these AVs offer an equal level of Malware Protection with the one offered by Kaspersky? Because this Thread is about Malware Protection (an AV-C File Detection Test); it is not about Privacy-Policy.
Administrator DKT27 Posted November 2, 2016 Administrator Share Posted November 2, 2016 Nothing wrong to play safe. As someone said on that article: Quote Information can be worth so much, in capable hands. Meaning, if your privacy being compromised, it can also lead to your security being compromised. I'm not someone who overplays privacy, but still, if it's possible to be hacked by private information, then it's as important as security. About these AV tests, my main issue with them talking about false positives is, give them some software fixes, then talk about false positives in them. Equal protection, no bloat and excellent privacy policy (which I agree, is getting rare with A/V software - they are becoming data miners).
