[Solved] Slow Internet Speed After Win 10 Anniversary Update

Can't seem to find help & support section so I'm posting it here, sorry. Admin can transfer this to the correct section.

My internet speed suddenly slows down after updating to Anniversary Update. Tried all the solution I can find in the internet including the auto-tuning thing but it doesn't work. I can't roll back to the previous version because I already removed the old files. Any fix for my problem?

Thank you.

Open CMD (Admin) and type this :-  "netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled" without the quotes. If it makes no difference type same thing but "=normal" without the quotes.

Its sharing your internet with M$ programs.

If all else (network card, network cable, wireless router, broadband modem, and possibly other devices and drivers) are the same, only updated the operating system, it does not in any way affect the Internet speed.

Try turning OFF all APPS in Privacy & Background APPs In System which you don't use and change Microsoft info to BASIC. It could be just coincidence that your ISP is on maintenance !

That's what I'm thinking. But it happens. I have good speed before updating.

I'll try that. But my Settings didn't change. Does the update revert back to the default settings? I don't think its related to my ISP, other PC/laptop is working fine. I'm having these for around a week now.

Ok here we go,
1.) log on as Administrator.
2.) start - run - type gpedit.msc
3.) expand "local computer policy"
4.) then expand "administrative templates"
5.) then expand "network branch"
6.) Highlight/double click the "QoS Packet Scheduler"
7.) on right window double click "limit reservable bandwidth"
8.) on setting tab check the "enabled"
9.) change "Bandwidth limit %" to 0 and apply
You're done. It would be a good idea to reboot after this.
Windows is silently eating of your bandwidth.

Windows 10 is not that good on all PC's,It can be very fussy, I have a 1 year old AMD based HP pavilion ,It worked fine on Windows 8.1 BUT Windows 10 will not run properly. Good luck, hope you find whats causing your slow Internet.

In W10 1607 this feature is turned off by default, ie it is already = 0.

In my W10 Enterprise 1607 this feature is turned off (0) but the description reads by default system limited to 80%:

Try disabling the 'wuauserv' service (Windows Update). This happened to me also. Temporarily disabling 'Windows Update' worked fine for me. If you are using WiFi then enable 'Metered Connection' under properties.

I hope it helps.

Stop that, I have it on all three PCs and it's no nightmare at all. Typical FUD.

No avail. Issue still exist. Damn Microsoft!

Edit:

Found the culprit. I check again the Processes & found out that Windows Defender eats a lot of my memory (why I didn't see these before? lol). I disable Cloud-based Protection & Automatic sample Submission and boom my internet speed is back. I assume these are the additional enhancements in Windows Defender by anniversary update because as far as I can remember, these options are not available before.?

Thank you guys for the inputs. Really appreciated.
