Administrator DKT27 Posted July 28, 2009 Administrator Share Posted July 28, 2009 With the release of Windows 7 in October, PC gamers will finally have another platform on which to play their favorite games. Those who didn't quite enjoy Windows Vista as a game platform or have stuck with Windows XP are probably looking forward to the opportunity to buy some new hardware, install Windows 7, and get the most out of their favorite games. But is Windows 7 a promising gaming platform? Now that its development is over, it's time to ask questions. What kind of gaming experience will it offer? Does it have features that will help it beat out Windows Vista or Windows XP in the game space?Let's take a look:Original Article
ffjason
I've enjoyed gaming on Win7 throughout the development process with no real issues. Everything from 10+ year old games to the latest seems to work. No drop in frame rates or anything.I can wholly recommend it.

And I don't have a DVD writer to make it into CD to install.I will upgrade it only after feb next year. I think I will go for Intel i7 :)
Toshiro
I know about the GPU's you need.. But, Your pc will run Windows 7 great if it runs Windows XP. My dad's PC got a P4 3.0 ghz with an ATI 9800. Runs great there, no lagg no hanging and loads great. You can use your memorystick (USB) to install Windows 7. http://digitizor.com/2009/01/28/how-to-ins...b-memory-stick/

bearbear
ArmA 2 runs about 10fps faster for my under XP SP3 compared to Windows 7 RTM. Latest NVidia drivers and everything else, but there's a noticeable drop in frame rate under Windows 7. I've not tried many other games but I find that under Windows 7, they run slightly slower than XP.
Administrator DKT27 Posted July 29, 2009 Author Administrator Share Posted July 29, 2009 It is obvious. 7 is considered faster than Vista but not as fast as XP as it has improved graphics.
irefay
I will put money on it being a great gaming OS
donizme
Guys you have to remember these games were optimised for Windows XP SP3 because over 60% of people have XP. Once developers optimise games for Windows 7 (e.g. like how Win7 uses memory, processes) then you can compare. But now is not the time, that's why there aren't many gaming comparisons out there between XP vs Win7, it's just too early.
