DVD-Ranger has stated that DVDFab has “started one of the biggest criminal content distribution ever seen”. The statement was made in a post about DVDFab’s Cinavia removal solution on the DVD-Ranger Facebook page. DVDFab is not removing the Cinavia Blu-ray copy protection but instead downloads “a complete new LPCM audio file”, according to DVD-Ranger. The developer of competing Cinavia removal software CinEx HD  does not provide any proof of the accusations.

Interesting is that was previously suggested that DVD-Ranger downloads full audio tracks. That is because some users found the databases required by DVD-Ranger’s software contain audio. The developers always denied and instead now accuses China based DVDFab from these practices. The accusations go even further, because DVDFab is paid software, DVD-Ranger argues that the Chinese company is selling unlicensed content.

The idea behind downloading full audio tracks is that they replace original audio tracks from Blu-ray discs that contain the Cinavia watermark. By replacing these tracks with an audio track from a source that doesn’t contain Cinavia, the movie becomes Cinavia free and can be played on players that normally deny Cinavia protected movie backups.

It’s possible to obtain Cinavia free audio tracks of movies because the copy protection is usually not on all releases of a movie. It might be that a Blu-ray version of a movie is protected by Cinavia while the DVD version is Cinavia free.

More information about Cinavia can be found in Cinavia: The copy protection that doesn’t want to be silenced.

We’ve reached out to DVDFab to see if they want to reply to DVD-Ranger’s statement.

It's on you to decide who is A and who B.

A: You are a crook!

B: But you do this and that and become more crook than me, where is the point?

A: Still such a crook you are.

B: We both then?

A: K.

B: Don't do it again, it looks so stoopid for all of us.

Sounds to me like DVD-Ranger are a bunch of cry-babies who want to rat out the competition, just so they can get all the business themselves.
