compgen1534
A few weeks ago, WinBeta revealed that Windows 10 Redstone 2 would be coming in Spring 2017, with Redstone 1 launching in June of this year. Up until recently, June was locked in as the time-frame for official release, but it appears that may have changed, as official developer documents appear to reference version 1607 instead. Spotted in a recent document regarding the Universal Windows Platform and Xbox, Microsoft references Windows 10 “Version 1607”, which follows the same versioning scheme as the last two Windows 10 releases, version 1511 and version 1507. This versioning means Microsoft is planning to launch Redstone 1 in July rather than June, which would have been version 1606 instead. It is often that release dates slip and slide up until the very last minute, so it isn’t all that surprising to see Redstone 1 launching a month later than scheduled. The Redmond-giant always had June or July in mind for Redstone 1, so pushing back to July isn’t really a delay. It’s a good thing, as it means more time to fix last minute bugs! Of course, since this document was found early, it’s possible the mention of Version 1607 is old and just hasn’t been updated yet. Regardless, we’ll find out soon enough as BUILD is just around the corner.
