steven36
Have you clicked on the update to Windows 10 that has appeared on your pre-Windows 10 computer? Did your computer work properly after the update? If everything worked properly, good for you, but there are those who weren't so fortunate. Microsoft isn't doing us any favors by making it so easy to upgrade to Windows 10. If your computer is a few years old, there is a possibility that the upgrade will not work. Don't assume that Windows 10 is "no good." The failed Windows 10 update may be caused by drivers that aren't ready for Windows 10. What is a driver? A driver is a program that allows the computer to use hardware like a printer. Years ago, everything that was needed to control a computer and all its hardware was loaded on the computer when it ships to the customer. What happens if a new printer is released after the computer is delivered? How does the computer control something it doesn't know about? Drivers can be installed on the computer to control new hardware. There is another problem with the Windows 10 update campaign being waged on us. What do most people do when they see an update notice from Microsoft. They click on it. Most people think that it must be OK because it is from Microsoft. Microsoft is not a benevolent entity that wants to protect the little home computer user. It is a big business that wants to control the universe or, the ultimate goal: our money. Here is a suggestion if you do decide to install Windows 10 or buy a Windows 10 computer. Pay extra attention to the installation or configuration process. You will be given the option to do the express installation. Take a little detour; don't do the express install. Read the options that are being presented in the custom install. You might be surprised what you are allowing Microsoft to do to your computer. When you first log into a Windows 10 system, don't just follow the easy path. Take some time to examine the options that are being provided. The first option that you will be presented is your login type. Do you really want an outlook.com email address? Create a local login. Microsoft doesn't need to control your access to your computer. The option is very obvious, but you can create a local login just like you are used to in pre-Windows 8 computers. If you are in the market for a new computer, don't panic. Windows 10 isn't all bad. You could call it a necessary evil. If you want a new computer, older Windows installs may not work. Don't waste your time fighting a battle that you can't win, unless you have resources to develop a new operating system. The Source

Not for me its not hard to avoid maybe for someone that dont have very much software testing under there belt it is . I use to help reverse engineers test there releases . Before I tested windows 10 i had installed GWX and had blocked it in its hidden folder with a firewall and i could never get GWX to appear to update to windows 10 i had blocked it so good i had to reformat Windows 8.1 and do all updates to make it appear in my tray then i installed Windows 10 via iso after i reserved my upgrade. Now i rolled back one and put Linux on the other . And have bought a new pc with windows 8.1 i'm not going to update a PC with older hardware made before windows 10 to windows 10 anymore.. If you turn updates off and never install get windows 10 updates its scientifically impossible for them to give you windows 10. .Anyone who says different ether they made a mistake and installed the update or there just making up tall tales. Holmes
My one post was off topic then I brought it back on and it got deleted ok thats a first. Like I said before it got deleted I agree windows update is not always the best option and those who know what there doing can avoid problems with windows ten like the intelligent individuals in this forum and those that dont know very much can always post and ask for help I mentioned self-obsession because its a pet peeve his comment sounded like self-obsession if it wasnt intended to be Im sorry if it was my comments that got deleted stand. There are alot of users in this forum that use windows ten and are using it with no problems. When I stop using windows ten in a virtual machine I may go with downloading a windows ten iso to get the operating system with windows update microsoft is abusing there update system I agree with this and they need to stop. If Microsoft continues to ram Windows 10 down everyone's throat by force or trickery, soon the default reaction will be it must be crap because it's from Microsoft.
