anyway to block link redirection ?

ok so there are some sites i visit sometimes and when i click on some of their links on the site it will redirect me to a totally different site and not the actual site i want it to take me, so basically i have to click the link like 10 times maybe more before it will actually send me to the correct site ????

how and why is this happening and is there any way to block this redirection so when i click on a link it should send me to the actual site in the first place ??

Also some people may say i'm infected with some kind of virus or malware i dont think thats the case like i said this does not happen on every link i click .. just on some of the sites i visit,

sites like : facebook, google, youtube etc etc are fine :) so i dont think its a virus or malware it prob has something to do with the site and not me but is there anyway to block this type of redirection ?

btw im using firefox cheers

Maybe your browser has a redirector toolbar or you may have malware.  Links would help like kalju said?  Redirectors are often malicious and if your getting redirected then its feasible.  What are you getting redirected to make sure the status bar is showing and when it redirects check what the ip address is.

Chrome

To prevent Chrome from being redirected to another site without your knowledge, click the "Customize and Control Google Chrome" button. The button has three horizontal lines on it. Click "Settings." Click the "Show Advanced Settings" link to display more setting options. In the Privacy section, click "Enable Phishing and Malware Protection." Close the browser window. Google now displays a warning if the browser is trying to redirect you.

The Chrome Web Store also has the Remove Redirects for Google and Fix Url Links Redirect add-ons that can stop browser redirects.

Mozilla Firefox

In Firefox, click the "Open Menu" button, which has three horizontal lines. Click the "Options" button in the panel that opens. Click the "Advanced" button and then the "General" tab. In the Accessibility section, check the "Warn Me When Websites Try to Redirect or Reload the Page" box. Click "OK."

Firefox also has a few add-ons that can stop browser redirects. They are NoRedirect, Redirect Bypasser and Redirect Remover.

Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer doesn't have a way to expressly stop redirects. Instead, you have to limit the whole Internet. Click the "Tools" button, which looks like a gear. Click "Internet Options." Click the "Security" tab. In the Security Levels for This Zone pane, set the slider to "High." This prevents IE from running ActiveX controls, which is how many browser redirects are carried out. However, this might prevent some safe sites from loading correctly. Click "OK."

you have malware. i'd run hitman pro in your computer, then remove whatever antivirus you have there (most likely avast) and put kaspersky. there's even a free one if you don't want to pay, but the paid one is very good. (firewall)

I posted the information on all three browsers because it didn't make sense to post the information just for firefox.  The topic isn't firefox it is browser redirection thus I covered all three for those that may want to know how to stop it in the other browsers.

too many cases with such problem involving avast free. (that vpn trial) it's only natural to ask "you're using avast aren't you?". even if he's using something else it's a valid question.

also there's the possibility that his ISP is injecting a proxy. i've seen it happen, the isp claims it's to "optimize traffic" (more like track everything you do and insert their ads) BUT he doesn't mention that either.

He didnt post yet I hope hes not having the problem now.  I have dealt with a redirecter virus before thats why I asked him to check for the ip address at the bottom.
