The websites of the torrent clients Deluge and qBittorrent, as well as the torrent site SumoTorrent, have reportedly been compromised. Access to the stolen user information including emails and hashed passwords is being sold online.

Several torrent related websites have reportedly been compromised by hackers, exposing the personal details of thousands of members.

Among the targeted sites are the forums of torrent clients Deluge and qBitTorrent, of which the user databases appeared online several days ago.

Both forums have thousands of members, whose emails, hashed passwords and other information was posted on the website Databoss.io.

The same site also lists the user database of the torrent site SumoTorrent.sx, which was reportedly breached earlier.

Just reset your password if you've used it elsewhere. :)

Don't remember signing up on qBittorrent's forum myself.

no thanks xD

What's wrong with it? I've never had any issues, been a user for 10 years now. What do you prefer instead?

I don't think a software's forum being hacked has much to do with its  software  . avast forum was hacked before even .  Since like 2011 i don't join many sites unless there's a reason like i need to post a problem or something or there's a benefit from it i use different passwords  and names too .

I wasn't bashing the developers or their program, I was trying to say uTorrent forums are better. I didn't specify the forums part, but meh.

I use LastPass. Every one of my logins has a different password, randomly generated using LastPass.

Some people don't like uTorrent because of the ads  ,,,I don't p2p very often anymore  i use mostly filelockers  but even my download manger  for filelockers can p2p aa well,  also i have Transmission there's lots of good p2p clients. :)

I have no complaints about qBittorrent or any other torrent client. I just don't use them because I've always used uTorrent and it's never done me wrong.

When I'm home, I use uTorrent v2.2.1.25130 because it has no ads and I get better download speeds while using my BTGuard proxy.

If I'm somewhere where my proxy isn't necessary, I use the latest version of uTorrent - still no ads tho because it's Pro.

Both versions are in PAF portable format so I just run them off my USB and set the download directory to the local hard drive.

Still, both the database site and qBittorrent forums are not working.

@PocketAppZ: You should try all three, qBittorrent, Deluge and Tixati. Some have features beyond what uTorrent offers. In addition, qBittorrent and Deluge are based on libtorrent, which has modified and worked on the torrenting far more and better than what guys at uTorrent have.

You have successfully convinced me to try them :)  I must say, that is a great explanation of the benefits and I want to thank you for your input

Good to hear that.

Give them some time. Try different settings and torrents. Check their speeds and how fast are torrents downloaded and seeded. All individually. Then see if you want to use uTorrent again. Make sure to make portable version of them though. :P

Also, I just came to know that, the author of libtorrent on which clients like qBittorrent and Deluge are based on, Arvid Norberg, is quite an expert it seems, has not only worked on the Bittorrent protocol and improved it but has also been the chief architect of uTorrent for 8 long years, stopping only start of this year it seems.

You're just full of information today, aren't ya? :P

This is very helpful to me and I appreciate you taking the time to detail all of this. I will use the next week or so to test various torrents and setups using Deluge/qBittorrent.

I'll share my thoughts on both clients afterward. 8)

Good to hear that. I will be honored if more and more people switch away from uTorrent, which is going against the principals of filesharing by selling paid versions and tricking users in one way or the other.
