Microsoft will stop trusting certificates from 20 Certificate Authorities

Starting on January 2016, Microsoft's Trusted Root Certificate Program will no longer include twenty currently trusted CAs and will remove their root certificates removed from the Trusted Root CA Store.

The list looks like this:

 

 

"This past spring, we began engaging with Certificate Authorities (CA) to solicit feedback and talk about upcoming changes to our Trusted Root Certificate Program. Among other things, the changes included more stringent technical and auditing requirements," Microsoft enterprise and security group program manager Aaron Kornblum explained.

The company has been working with CAs to helpt them adjust to the new program prerequisites, but the CAs on the aforementioned list either would not or could not comply with the new requirements.

What does this mean for customers who got their certificates from those CAs?

"If you use one of these certificates to secure connections to your server over https, when a customer attempts to navigate to your site, that customer will see a message that there is a problem with the security certificate," says Kornblum.

"If you use one of these certificates to sign software, when a customer attempts to install that software on a Windows operating system, Windows will display a warning that the publisher may not be trusted. In either case, the customer may choose to continue."

Microsoft advises these customers to get a replacement certificate from another CA (one that will still be trusted).

does not matter what they do...to some it is all wrong bad or nefarious  or sometimes all three..this an unnatural hatred for something and far from the objectivity you claim to have. with anything microsoft...if they were as bad and evil and wrong as you claim them to be they would have ceased operations a very very long time ago ...but in actual fact they are one of the most successful  companies in the world so they gotta be doing something right in everyone else's mindsets...i actually know someone that i used to work with here in my small city in Canada that went to microsoft right out of university to work for bill gqtesi think he was 23 or 24 when he started for them...worked for stock options with no salary...he retired when he was 38 and travels the world on what he earned bought his mom and brothers and sisters a house each buys them cars every few years so don't tell me microsoft has no idea what they are doing

If i hate Microsoft  why am I on windows right now ? And just here in 2015  they started acting like there Google  harvesting all this data .  I never thanked about using another o/s tell 2015   and in north america more people Are using Mac than windows 10 or windows 8.1  that's not a very good sign of the  times for M$

actually when you say(all) mac users compared to win10 users you are comparing  apples to  kittycats... so to speak....  why not compare  ONLY apples newest OS to windows 10 then you would actually be giving a fair comparison... or even... why did you not compare all mac os to all windows os  .... you kind of loaded  the stats there to prove you point    as i said you are far form objective when it comes to win10( sorry i earlier said the all encompassing microsft)   it is very evident you are always looking for a pre-determined outcome when you speak of windows 10 is my point here and you seem to only think you are being objective... when i fact everyone here can plainly see you are far form being that...you are entitled to you opinion...no denying that nor  am i trying to stop you from expressing it...but saying you are objective when you are not is something  that can be pointed out too ... hope we can still converse together   too...

Microsoft , Apple etc all just ride on the USA name . They  make  everything in China were people don't even buy there products they pirate them . Then they expect  me to buy there software and phones ? Im sorry  Im  not a kid anymore  were i need the latest and greatest toy  . As long as it can do what i need to do and not do things i don't want it too do.  im fine with something older. I don't know about you if  you pirate windows are not but i never have . I gave  M$ years of support . Thats more  than a lot of people  could say. . So when they start going in the wrong  dereliction I have a right to speak up.  i bought a computer  with windows on it in 2015 even .Not windows 10 but windows 8.1 but M$ still  got there's  lol.

Why you come jump all down my throat  because i have a opinion?  You need to look at yourself when you start correcting people who done nothing to you but slam a company that you admire . When i say they suck and are no good is nothing others don't on here a on daily  basis . So what gives you the right  to pin point me about it ?
