Karamjit
Windows 10 TH2 finally brings Windows Update for BusinessWith the release of Windows 10 Threshold 2, Microsoft says that its new desktop operating system finally becomes ready for the enterprise, as the update includes a series of new features specifically aimed at this particular customer category. Windows Update for Business is the service that enables businesses running Windows 10 to have full control over the updates that are deployed on their computers, offering not only advanced tools to manage deployment but also the possibility of deferring updates that are likely to have a negative impact on system performance. It's not a secret that some of the updates released by Microsoft in the last couple of years have actually caused trouble on some Windows computers, and this is also one of the reasons IT admins in charge of updating their company PCs are not always very keen to install new patches. Many prefer to wait a little bit longer to see if the released updates are doing any harm or not, and only then decide whether they should proceed with the install. Windows Update for consumersIn Windows 10, Microsoft has changed the way updates are delivered to users, so while consumers running Home are getting everything automatically, without options to defer the install, Enterprise customers are actually getting tools that allow them to wait up to 8 months for the deployment of new patches and OS upgrades. “Windows Update for Business provides IT controls over the deployment of updates within their organizations, while ensuring their devices are kept current and their security needs are met, at reduced management cost. Features include setting up device groups with staggered deployments and scaling deployments with network optimizations,” Microsoft explains. Windows 10 Threshold 2 is the version that finally makes it possible to defer updates, but the issue still remains for Home users, who are more or less guinea pigs for the company's new patches. Obviously, Microsoft needs to spend more time testing out updates before releasing them to users, but time will tell how many of these will actually be causing issues on Windows 10 Home PCs. straycat19
and where utility itself?or is it simply repost from softpedia by "captain obvious" Bogdan Popa? :rasta:...roflIt is part of System Center/WSUS server that downloads updates directly from Microsoft to the business along with information. The administrator then chooses which of the updates to push out and when they will be pushed. It is normal to have a test group of users that get the updates first to see if there is any problem. Acceptable updates are pushed to the system and a popup on the users desktop tells them they have updates available and if they don't install them by a certain time and date they will be installed automatically. Acceptable updates are pushed to the system and a popup on the users desktop tells them they have updates available and if they don't install them by a certain time and date they will be installed automatically. This shows that people who got windows 10 for free are nothing but guinea pigs and lab rats . The people that got it free home and pro don't have this feature to stop certain updates from happening. But the people who have to pay for it AKA business can block botched updates The Testers of these updates are the majority of windows 10 users who have Home and Pro versions . Windows 10 is not really free though you pay for it from giving them you're data or even worse a botched update could fry you're hardware .The thing about windows 8.1 or Windows 7 if there's a botched update it don't matter version you're on you can uninstall any update and block it or don't install it at all and block it . This makes not updating to windows 10 the best choice for home users . But people are so blind by the paid off by Microsoft press they cant see the truth. Many peoples jobs in the Press , ITs and Computer vendors jobs depend on Microsoft's well being so they praise M$ regardless so everything the mainstream media post I take with a grain of salt. Because Microsoft's well being don't pay my bills so I could care less and i seek the truth about them.
Karlston
What makes Microsoft think they'll be any more "successful" with Enterprise users than they've been with home users? For every 1 Windows 10 user there's over 8 Windows 7 and 8.1 users who, despite Microsoft's aggressive nagging, bullying, and forcing, have said NO to upgrading to Windows 10. If Windows 10 is such a great product why does Microsoft have to go to such extreme lengths to get people to upgrade?Heck, there are 30% more Windows 8.1 users than Windows 10 users. If Microsoft can't convert them, something about Windows 10 must be seriously on the nose.Sorry, I know I harp on this, but this is precisely why you never hear the Microsoft marketing machine crowing about Windows 10's market share, instead using "X million devices" because big numbers sound impressive to most people and to the (mostly) spineless clueless blinkered media who can see nothing wrong with anyhting Microsoft does with Windows 10.I bet the GWX control panel and other utilities to block Microsoft's "upgrade marketing" have a much larger market share than Windows 10. CODYQX4
NEW Feature? You mean giving back a small amount of control they always had with WSUS?
steven36
What makes Microsoft think they'll be any more "successful" with Enterprise users than they've been with home users? You have to remember you're talking about windows were they look years ahead of whats happening now this is just setting the stage for the future . It will be 4 or 5 years before most business upgrade to windows 10 regardless . But one thing is for sure most all business will upgrade because the end of life will come to windows 7 in 2020 . And no one in business is going to buy windows 8.1 . They just added back the features they removed from home users so they can start selling to business at all before dooms day of windows 7 . :)
Holmes
This post needs optimism. Remember the movie legion (the year of the movie is two thousand ten) jeep how he had hope when it looked like there was no hope at all and the angel or archangel michael went against god's decision to harm or kill mankind and he did it because of jeep telling the angel going with god's dicision that there just lost and need guidance well Im jeep for windows ten lawls. Windows ten is only a crappy operating system if you look at it the wrong way I know I sound crazy its true. I do disagree they need to give enterprise users and home and pro users well pro users same controls allow all users to control windows updates not a certain group I wouldnt slander or smear there name into the mud just yet. There is hope for windows ten even though it looks like Im completely full of cow manure lawls If you use that new xp antispy for windows ten or the Wten privacy tool that works for threshold two and watch what updates you install and block what you dont want sent where the privacy tools and microsoft windows ten privacy settings fail to stop then your alot better off than you think.I have seen lots of negative post's about windows ten this year as a matter of fact its insane and sometimes it looks like Im with the negative nancies (when I had my negative days) truth is Im one of the only optimistic users on this forum and Im happy to be one. Life is to short to be pissed off all the time with that said Microsoft does aggravate me with some of its actions this is one and hopefully microsoft is going to pull there head outta there butt and give control back to its users that deserve it saying microsoft and windows ten is a piece of shit is not the answer your going to get stuck installing that POS when microsoft ends the support cycle for win dows seven eight and eight point one. If they continue to focus on giving control to enterprise users and not to home or pro users they are going to succeed with enterprise users. Windows is a equal opportunity operating system its supposed to be one and microsoft needs to treat it as such and give all users controls over windows ten windows updates not just enterprise users. steven36
Windows 10 Big Improvement Will Anger UsersBack in January Alkove openly published a blog post confirming mainstream consumers on Windows 10 had a valuable role to play as guinea pigs for businesses:“By the time Current branch for Business [Windows 10] machines are updated, the changes will have been validated by millions of Insiders, consumers and customers’ internal test processes for several months, allowing updates to be deployed with this increased assurance of validation,” he explained. With such a promise to business users it seems unlikely that the ongoing improvements Microsoft is delivering to the Window 10 update process will ever find themselves in consumers’ hands. Consequently the number one complaint about Windows 10 will likely never be fixed and the fact Threshold 2, the biggest Windows 10 update so far, actually widens the gap between the haves and have nots only emphasises that.Needless to say there two obvious workarounds:1. Pay the $199 asking price for Windows 10 Pro instead of taking the free upgrade offer to Windows 10 Home (normally $119).2. Stick stick with Windows 7 or Windows 8 and apply pressure to Microsoft by continuing to grind Windows 10’s impressive early momentum to a halt. sourcehttp://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonkelly/2015/11/18/windows-10-improvements-frustrate/2/
Rok
Another lol for their crappy OS.Crappy OS!! Are you really serious and mean it?! The Windows OS threads here and all over the internet shows, how people are mad over its releases. No matter what, "Windows OS is still the main stream OS and majority of Home & Enterprises enjoying different Windows OS releases." Tell us, how many home, or business users are using Mac OS, and or Linux.
