steven36
Am I reading that Windows out box protection has more of an impact than ESET Smart Security or AV?How did they run the test? Do they run the test with fully patched windows or not fully patched windows . Windows out the box protection is not very effective on unpatched windows it only is very effective with all windows updates. The updates M$ writes plugs holes in there antivirus . :P
HX1
Well to me it looks like I will be making some modifications to my system and installing ESET.. I never installed it thinking it would put more drain on resources...

A word of warning too you if you beta test Windows 10 preview ESET don't support this . The bad thing about Windows 10 were it keeps getting new features a lot programs will cease to work or make it hard for developers to keep up. ESET with Pre-Release Updates will do de trick and will work like a charm (ver. 8)Users with Windows 10 systems have a possibility to opt for Insider preview builds which are early builds of Windows 10 that may contain new features, improvements, fixes, etc. Due to a tight integration of ESET's products with the operating system, it is not possible to fully support them from the moment they become available. Users with Insider preview builds have HIPS disabled and receive the error "Communication with driver failed. HIPS is inactive."ESET has committed to provide support for final versions of operating systems. As for Insider preview builds, we plan to add limited support in the near future so that the Advanced memory scanner and Exploit blocker protection features that depend on HIPS work just fine.https://forum.eset.com/topic/6282-windows-10-insider-preview-builds-not-fully-supported-hips-is-inactive/Before they said they wasn't ..Now they say they plan to add limited support is this thorough Pre updates? its still not fully supported . I never tested insider builds of windows 10 I don't even test stable builds of it any more . I use NOD32 v8 on Windows 8.1 lol .
Sylence
Some of them might be easy on resources but that doesn't guarantee better protection as well...being protected has its own costs and advantages. nothing still beats Kaspersky ;)

But one thing it was not able to do if i was working on a infected machine it could not kill the infection. It was only was able to prevent it . I don't care what antivirus you use if they don't have the signature yet it cant prevent it . Sometimes a 0day could be in the wild for along time before you're antivirus gets the signature. its just like when law enforcement gave Kaspersky the keys to unlock that Ransom Ware . That strain had been around for years before they caught the people who made it and got the keys to unlock it. Really Ive not used Kaspersky much since years ago and i have been just been fine no matter if I use Avast or NOD32 .The only reason I use and Antivirus in real time is just in case .. I use on demand scanners and extra layers of security in my browser as well. :)

ronkanon
And again Webroot Secureanywhere isn't tested.I have tested more than half of these products and Webroot beats them all on performance.I am not saying it is the best on security but on performance it's numero uno. That's my opinion.
