Windows Hello makes the traditional password useless

Windows 10 comes with Windows Hello, a biometric authentication feature that’s supposed to add a new security layer to your PC and mobile device, and thus make hacking not necessarily impossible, but certainly a lot more difficult.

Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella says Windows Hello is the feature that shows the company’s commitment to improving system security and explains that passwords have become one of the easiest ways to compromise a computer.

Biometric authentication

Speaking at a press conference in Mumbai, Nadella explained that biometric authentication is the next step towards tougher-to-break security measures and nominated Windows 10 as the one platform that supports such authentication methods.

“One of the biggest security issues is passwords. One of the things that we are working on is a world where passwords are not going to be the ones that you know can get hacked but you really have other biometrics that really help us secure our computing interfaces," Nadella was quoted as saying.

At the same time, the CEO also commented on Microsoft’s obsession with productivity, saying that all of their products are now designed to help people do more. Living proof is again Windows 10, which comes with features supposed to keep you productive both at the desk and on the go.

“We had a mission of putting a personal computer PC on every desk in every home, but in retrospect that was a goal... Our mission was to empower every individual and organization. That's really what I look at as we go forward,” he continued.

Nadella is Microsoft’s CEO since early 2014, when he replaced Steve Ballmer at the helm of the company and pushed the software giant in a new direction that’s focused on cloud more than any time before. Nadella is said to be a people person and is trying to give Microsoft the same attitude, so he’s launched several services and products that are developed together with users across the world and based on their suggestions. Including Windows 10, that is.

Our mission was to empower every individual and organization.

(.....) as we go forward,” he continued (.....) in a new direction that’s focused on cloud more than any time before.

This Microsoft guy's vision becomes worse with repetition:

- Biometric authentication does away with anonymity and thus privacy - and better stay around all the time.

- The cloud is only useful for non-sensitive, non-classified data, because access to someone's property is controlled by the cloud's owner.

- It may cost a fee to have access. Some jackass may control who shares in your stuff. You can be blocked whenever a reason is found. Etc.

- The truth is: the only safe cloud is a cloud in your possession.

- For lots of important matters: Fuck the Microsoft cloud.

Microsoft is moving gradually to erase the ownership of its operating system, by offering W10 first free and load it with spyware, then forcefully adding the spyware to W7 and W8 operating systems so we got no choice of staying with our older operating systems. Then comes onedrive and offering it as part of W10, to get more control of our data. And now this, where they can freely go through your emails and data without the need to override a password the way they do now with outlook mail, they want to be able to do the same with whatever we do in the internet away from their control. They are moving forward to rent their operating system they way they do with Office and allow us to use it from their servers for a monthly fee without having the full software in our position.

Bell Gates have mentioned this a few years back and apparently, he is moving on to do it. I think it is time to look for other alternatives.

The world is headed back to the days before encryption it don't matter what password you have or even biometric . If you use services that log they have the way to unlock it . when all sites start requiring a fingerprint or a mugshot to login to spend my money or to just chat or post will be when I stop logging in anywhere and just use snail mail and just go to the shops . That's what they do to criminals is require them to take fingerprints and mugshots . If you didn't do nothing wrong you should not have to do this .

This clown at Microsoft thinks he was the mighty God, and can steal the most important biometric identity of everyone in the world, and track everyone's private life. If we gave our fingerprint to Microsoft, everyone will be tracked by this dark empire without any difficulty, even without the need for them to use a password. They've found the express way to track our privacy, in the name of protecting our privacy. Yeah, we consumers are all morons, and Microsoft is so smart.
