ARMOUR
India's Information Technology Minister has asked local Internet service providers to block at least 240 sites said to be offering 'pirate' content. During a meeting yesterday with representatives from the film and ISP industries, police and other officials, K.T. Rama Rao promised to form a specialist police unit and take action within 30 days. For several years, filmmakers in India have sought to protect their content from unauthorized online distribution. That has mainly taken the form of so-called ‘John Doe’ orders.Back in May 2015 one such order not only targeted The Pirate Bay, KickassTorrents, Torrentz and TorrentFunk, but also video streaming site Vimeo. As a result, local ISPs were given just 24 hours to stop their subscribers from accessing the sites.During a meeting yesterday between representatives from the film industry, government, police and ISPs, the discussion centered around the “grave threat” posed by online piracy and what actions can be taken against it.Highlighting measures taken elsewhere, particularly in Europe, the notion of a national ‘pirate site’ blacklist was put on the table. Information Technology Minister K.T. Rama Rao was also briefed on the actions being taken by City of London Police and was asked to consider similar measures.Source: TorrentFreak.com

Administrator DKT27 Posted October 30, 2015 Administrator Share Posted October 30, 2015 In India blocks are only for 1-2 months :D :PNot in this case. I doubt it.As long as this is a DNS block and not a total IP block it's fine. However, who is this K.T. Rama Rao. Seems to be the son of the CM, KCR. Last time I checked, Ravi Prasad was India's IT minister, not this idiot.Eitherway, I was expecting something like this. India is far big and has lots of users of such sites. Surprised that it took them so long to know this.
dcs18
Regardless of whether the blocks are temporary or permanent or DNS or even IP — a select few shall always manage to bypass the same. :TeHe:
hawk007
While India's film industry (Bollywood) is nourished largely by the investments from Mafia Groups, they sought legal aids from the Government to safeguard their black money!!! Ridiculous.
