Wire extends its service to Windows

Wire made its arrival late last year, delivering a full-fledged communication experience, and since its initial debut, has arrived on iOS, Android and Mac OS X. The service has seen support from CEO and Founder of Wire, Jon Christensen, who took the role after migrating from previous work on both Skype, and Microsoft Lync. Other key figures, such as Skype co-founder, Janus Friis have also backed the project.

Today, Wire has expanded to Windows, and offers a majority of features currently available in existing applications, on alternate platforms. The application delivers an established communication experience between devices, and syncs messages between all versions of the client. The application supports high-quality calls with a focus on privacy, by offering end-to-end encryption for all users. Wire also supports large group chats of up to 128 users, with similar high-quality call standards.

Media sharing is also a major focus of the application, supporting exchanges of high quality photos and animated GIFs, and integrated media players for select external services. Content providers such as YouTube, Spotify and SoundCloud are supported by Wire, and are directly embedded into the application for seamless playback.

The application is heavily inspired by its existing versions, and is designed to create a universal feel across all clients. The clean, yet developed interface aims to create a sleek experience across a majority of devices.

From today, Wire is available on Windows 7, 8 and 10, building on the number of platforms supported by the service. The application is now available to download via the Wire official site.
