Batu69
The company now show nags that take over the whole screen Earlier this year, Microsoft has started showing Windows 10 upgrade notifications on Windows 7 computers in order to make sure that everyone was aware of the free offer that was available to those running a previous version of the operating system. But in the last few weeks, the company has become a little bit more aggressive with the Windows 10 upgrade and not only that it “accidentally” flagged it as important in Windows Update (which caused the new OS to be deployed automatically on several computers without users knowing it), but it also changed the way these notifications are being displayed. Business Insider writes that the Windows 10 upgrade notifications are now taking over the whole screen “with no obvious way to turn them off,” which could make it harder for beginners to avoid the install. While there's a big red “X” button in the right top corner, which pretty much helps you close the upgrade notification, displaying a full-screen notification is certainly annoying, and for the moment, there's indeed no way to stop them from showing up once again after a reboot. “I Don't Want Windows 10” The Get Windows 10 app that's responsible for the notifications you see on your screen cannot be removed just like any other program on your PC, but by uninstalling the KB3035583 update from Windows Update. Obviously, it will be re-offered once you reboot, so make sure you also hit it to stay away from it. As an alternative solution, you can try an app that's called “I Don't Want Windows 10,” which does exactly what its name suggests: it blocks the Get Windows 10 patch and helps you get rid of those annoying notifications. While this is a helpful tool for users who want to stay on Windows 7, keep in mind that turning to third-party solutions to disable OS features might also affect its performance and Microsoft says that you should actually stay away from them. Needless to say, without such a trick, the only thing that's left is to get ready for even more aggressive notifications that would be displayed on your desktop. Karlston
Desperation by the Redmond arrogant bullies. If you're looking for an explanation of why they're so desperate for W7 and W8.1 users to take the free upgrade (and why they only quote Windows 10 adoption by the number of installs) check out W10's OS market share, and compare that to the combined W7 and W8.1.You'll discover that for every one W10 user there's 8-10 W7/W8.1 users who have resisted M$'s incessant and annoying marketing attempts and refused the free upgrade. That's the real truth about W10 adoption, they can't even give it away... it's a dismal failure.I excitedly had bought a new 500GB SSD to install W10 on and migrate to it from W7. But it's gathering dust because of W10's forced-mystery-cumulative-update-russian-roulette updates, the privacy schmozzle, their LAN/WAN confusion (allowing only Wi-Fi devices to be "metered"), the immaturity of the OS itself, and more.Cue the first Microsoft successive-OS-failure. nabla666
I read the article on businessinsider.com.Pretty much bad journalism....First the Full screen are not fullscreen...and you can close them...So no big trouble...Secondo, the screenshots came from a tweeter user who seems to be a fucking moron....It is only the "reservation" phase, what is the big problem with that ?It will not install by itself if you reserve windows 10 ( except some really rare case which are an error from microsoft ;)And he has no connection according to screenshot, wtf....Bad mouthing windows 10 is an easy way to make some articles...I do not defend Microsoft in any way however !Personaly I have reserved win 10 on 2 machine and it still doesn't download....( one of them has even a real license ^_^ )I don't read much about these cases :)
