Microsoft Releases Windows 10 Build 10565 Update KB3106638

No word on what exactly is included in this update

Microsoft has just released a new update for Windows 10 build 10565, but as usual, the company hasn’t provided us with a change log for this new patch.

And yet, given the fact that it’s specifically aimed at Windows 10 build 10565, which is the latest official version that’s available as part of the Windows Insider program, it most likely comes with bug fixes and other small improvements here and there.

Most likely, the company wanted to address a number of bugs that have already been fixed in the internal rings, so waiting for a new build to come out wouldn’t make much sense. The update is called “Windows 10 Insider Preview October Update for x64-based Systems (KB3106638)” and is apparently delivered to x64 systems running the preview build of Windows 10.

Windows 10 preview builds to keep coming

Microsoft is now finalizing work on Windows 10 Threshold 2, which is said to be the very first major update for the operating system launched on July 29.

Nothing official is available right now, but it appears that the company is planning to launch this update in November, so all these preview builds of Windows 10 are playing a critical role right now.

Many of the features that we’ve received in the last couple of months on Windows 10 Insider Preview builds will be part of this major OS update, but some sources familiar to the matter claim that at least one of the most eagerly-anticipated improvements would be delayed.

The extension support for Microsoft Edge, which was expected to arrive this fall, won’t be ready in time for Threshold 2, and the company is now reportedly looking at Redstone, the update due in summer 2016, as the release date. Again, this isn’t confirmed by Microsoft, but since insiders haven’t yet received extension support in preview builds, this is very likely because the company can’t roll out such a big feature without first getting it tested thoroughly through its insider program.
