Microsoft rolled out new ISOs for clean installs

Microsoft released Windows 10 build 10565 a few days ago for insiders enrolled in the fast ring, but just like usual, the new version was only available via Windows Update for those who were already running the preview on the computers.

Today, however, the software giant finally rolled out new ISOs for insiders that allow them to perform a clean install and deploy Windows 10 build 10565 from scratch, thus helping them prevent any bug that might be caused during the upgrade or simply start fresh with this particular version.

Microsoft doesn’t usually release new ISOs for Windows 10 builds that are exclusively available for fast ring users, but this time the company says that it received plenty of feedback in this regard and it decided to do it in order to allow clean installs without the need for building your own ISO (which is possible by the way using the ESD files shipped by Microsoft via Windows Update).

“We don't usually do ISOs for Fast Ring builds, but we heard feedback that these would be helpful to try the new activation paths,” Gabe Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, explained.

Available in multiple languages

The new ISOs are available in both x64 and x86 versions and come in 3.72 GB and 2.81 GB packages, respectively, while also offering support for multiple languages (all of them are available here, but you can also use the direct download links at the end of the article to get the English versions).

Keep in mind that these builds of Windows 10 can’t be activated unless you previously validated your copy of the operating system on RTM (version number 10240), so if you plan to install it from scratch without doing this first, you will only be able to use it for 30 days.

With all of these being said, you can proceed to downloading the Windows 10 build 10565 ISO x64 or x86 depending on your PC configuration.

It is important to know:
HTML, please don't Quote!
  • You'll need a third-party program to convert the ISO file into installable media—DVD burning software often includes this capability.
  • Remember, trying out an early build like this can be risky. That's why we recommend that you don't install the preview on your primary home or business PC. Unexpected PC crashes could damage or even delete your files, so you should back up everything.
  • If you want to stop using Windows 10 Insider Preview and return to your previous version of Windows, you'll need to reinstall your previous version from the recovery or installation media that came with your PC—typically a DVD. If you don't have recovery media, you might be able to create recovery media from a recovery partition on your PC using software provided by your PC manufacturer. You'll need to do this before you upgrade. Check the support section of your PC manufacturer's website for more info.
  • After you install Windows 10 Insider Preview, you won’t be able to use the recovery partition on your PC to go back to your previous version of Windows.

so will this work on the initial RTM version released or does it mean we have to use the unofficial ISO for a clean install? thanks
