Batu69
The former Mega owner proposes a way to stop piracyIt's no secret that piracy is one of Microsoft's biggest problems right now, and despite all efforts to crack down on illegal activities that could support counterfeited software, many PCs out there are still running illegal copies of Windows. The concern is now that the same high level of piracy could impact Windows 10 too, so Microsoft should take a moment and listen to a suggestion made by Kim Dotcom, the former owner of Mega, who says he has the recipe to stop piracy. In a post on Twitter recent, Dotcom explains the five things that in his opinion are critical for a software company to prevent piracy: 1. Create great stuff2. Make it easy to buy3. Same day worldwide release4. Works on any device5. Fair priceMicrosoft's Windows 10's caseAs far as the new Windows 10 is concerned, piracy isn't yet an issue, but it could become one soon because ways to bypass activation methods in a second have already been discovered and they aren't too difficult to find if you know where to look. Of course, many consumers have already got Windows 10 completely free of charge if they were running a genuine copy of Windows 7 or 8.1, but if they weren't, they’ve probably turned down to such methods anyway in order to get the new OS. So if we apply Dotcom's piracy solution in Microsoft's case, it seems that the Redmond software giant isn't quite meeting all criteria for a product that doesn't need to be pirated, so Windows 10 might be exposed to this kind of risk anyway. A wrap-up of Microsoft's Windows 10 approach when taking into account Kim Dotcom's suggestion would look like this: 1. Create great stuff - Windows 10 is not really that great (some say it is, others say not so much - there are simply too many bugs, errors, and installation problems right now)2. Make it easy to buy - Windows 10 is indeed easy to buy and you can find both online and at retailers, as well as pre-installed on a number of PCs3. Same day worldwide release - some PCs are still waiting to get the upgrade4. Works on any device - Windows 10 does work on any device, but phones are yet to get it (the release is expected to take place next month)5. Fair price - Windows 10 cost $119.99, while Windows 10 Pro is priced at $199.99 How to stop piracy: 1. Create great stuff 2. Make it easy to buy 3. Same day worldwide release 4. Works on any device 5. Fair price — Kim Dotcom (@KimDotcom) September 23, 2015Source
steven36
Kim Dotcom is full of :shit: You can do all this great stuff to software but still money dont grow on trees . You can lead a horse to water but you cant make it drink. You may can reduce piracy by offering it to people for free but that's about all . You take the music industry for example has many websites were you can get free music but people still pirate music. There are some programs that only cost a few bucks and people still pirate them heavy . I would not take advice for someone that may be going to jail over hosting pirated content noways .

steven36
I remember the internet before he got caught and it was a much better place and megupload suxed you had to wait forever to just get a slot..Trolling everyone is not going to help this fool when the judge hits his hammer and says off to jail you go.He even went as far as to give free vouchers mega to the script kiddies of the lizard squad so they would stop hacking the game site he uses . There all facing charges in the UK for DDOSS of a bunch of big websites. His lawyers already told him to stay out of the public because anything he does can held against him and hes still all up in the public. straycat19
Kim does make some excellent points. For example, fair pricing. For any of you that might use Macs you should remember that when Snow Leopard came out it cost $29.99 and could be installed on as many systems as you wanted. No activation codes, no spying on your system, and it worked out of the box on every system they said it would. On the other hand Windows 10 is so bad it isn't worth pirating. The kiddies out there have not learned the lesson that 'newer isn't better' applies mainly to software.

So keep dreaming . always they run deals too sooner or latter you're pc gets old you want by a new one when i bought a new vista Rig i got a free windows 7 disk . This is not the 1st time they gave windows away . Why should I buy windows again and again . I just use the version that came on my pc or the versions they give me for free tell I'm ready to buy a new pc . I dont really like upgrading something old with soming new unless its free.To me buying electronics is far more important than wasting my money on software . Computers unlike windows are cheaper than ever . :P

Most software I use is only made for windows .Same with gamer people most games are only based on windows . I know some windows software will run in Wine but why waste my time learning Linux when everything already works in windows just fine witch everything will never work in Linux just fine .
