Project Looking Glass by Sun Microsystems: Open Platform to Explore Innovative 3D User Interface

Project Looking Glass is based on Java technology and explores bringing a richer user experience to the desktop and applications via 3D windowing and visualization capabilities.

Project Looking Glass, which was developed through leveraging Java technology, was created to work with the Linux and Solaris desktop environments. The Linux version is available today. The Project team has started initial planning for Solaris x86 support and is still evaluating a Solaris SPARC version.

Project Looking Glass will eventually work alongside applications designed for a 2D window system, without application modifications. The desktop features components such as Sun's StarOffice, the Mozilla browser, and RealPlayer support, along with other components. The current version of Project Looking Glass relies on the JDK 5.0, Java 3D 1.3.2, and Java Advanced Imaging (JAI) 1.1.2.

Only try this If u r bored to death and need something to do...

and on top it also tells

Clicking the CD icon on the taskbar will open the CD viewer, a 3D demo application. Mouse over the stack of CDs and click on the CD images to see the application in action. For additionaloperational information, click the icon to the left of the CD Viewer on the taskbar. This will open a panel that summarizes the operations supported by the demo

I havent tested it..probably later today wen I have access to my comp...
