The store closes in just a few seconds after launch

The Windows 10 app store appears to be experiencing some critical issues, as users are reporting that it crashes only a few seconds after launch.

At this point, it’s not yet clear what’s wrong, but some speculate that it might be related to the latest cumulative update that the company released to Windows 10 users. That’s very unlikely though, given the fact that yesterday, the store was working just fine on computers with or without the update.

Posts on Microsoft’s Community forums confirm that there’s indeed a problem with the store and it appears to be quite widespread. Microsoft hasn’t yet acknowledged the issue, so we’ve reached out to the company for a word on this and hopefully, an answer would be provided soon.

Don’t reinstall Windows 10! It won’t make any difference!

Surprisingly, some users have turned to pretty extreme workarounds and tried to reinstall Windows 10, but be advised that nothing works so far and this appears to be an error on Microsoft’s side. So don’t do it because it won’t make any difference.

Here’s a message posted by a Windows 10 user on Microsoft’s Community forums:

“I've tried all of these solutions and nothing works. Even wiped my entire hard drive and started from scratch. Store will not even load. It just flashes for a second and closes.”

Another one confirms the problem and says that he only gets to see the splash screen and nothing more:

“When I click on the Store it opens with just the logo/blue background then crashes after a few seconds. There are no error codes that appear and it also shows up on task manager under background processes.”

For the moment, the amount of information regarding this problem is very limited, so hopefully Microsoft would provide some details on what exactly is wrong with the store and how exactly we can fix them.

The main question is, do people really use it ? :P

I do. I play Asphalt 8: Airbourne on Windows PC and the game is one of the apps on Windows Store.

If the Windows 10 store went offline forever, me thinks, no one here would care.

I agree, windows store is not new . It 1st came out in Windows 8 Consumer Preview on February 29, 2012 . They only time I ever used it was to update my windows 8 OEM to 8.1 .Other than that I never used it for anything. On windows 10 I even have uninstalled it. So I would not knew it was down if not for this news article. :P ;)

My Mail App has been saying it needs an update for like four days and each time I try to download it and install it always downloads a different size.. then tries to install and says it failed... Had this happen several times on Windows 8.1 too.. as well as the whole store not working.... I was one of the guys who really is lost on the inner working of apps ( yes a little still ) and thought my system was corrupted by consulting old documentation which did not help in restoring the apps and allowing them to update.. who in the end reinstalled the entire system which lead me to Enterprise 8.1.. :P ( off of a russian installer )...

I like the music you can listen to and the cheap quick movie rentals.. only a few apps I would pay for.. ( at $1.99 ) .. but for the most part what I need is free, even in RT..

Weird.. but I never really was an app guy.. I think Windows RT forced it though an now I probably would be lost without a few of them..

On the same note however there have been several occasions in which there seemed to be problems and issues with Microsoft networks including mail and OneDrive over the past year which caused a number of issues for these systems.. and services.. ( Not saying they are crap.. because the same thing has happened large scale with Google and a few others as well .. not to mention circumvention ).. but I think now that most systems are plugged int these services .. We notice it quite readily.. even a small change or servers going down for maintenance changes or upgrades...
