In what can be considered as a massive prank, Google has been trolled by Microsoft via its own Chrome browser post the announcement of Alphabet.

Since Google doesn’t own the domain alphabet.com, it has opted for web address — abc.xyz. But in order to see Microsoft’s prank, type in either abc.fail or abc.wtf on a Chrome browser. The browser will automatically take you to Bing.com’s search homepage in both cases.

Even though Microsoft hasn’t taken the responsibility for this prank, but an entry on IP servers locator Whois shows that the domain was registered from Redmond — the place where Microsoft is headquartered.

These URLs are clearly mocking the abc.xyz site that Google created for Alphabet. A few days ago, Google announced a major rejig where Alphabet is now the parent company, under which Google and other companies fall. Post the announcement, Chennai-born, IIT Kharagpur-educated Sundar Pichai has become the CEO of the core business of Google.
