One things for sure they didn't remove that service .

they tried start it back up after the update today but were i edit the registry it couldn't ;)

As far blocking ips for Microsoft there's no need if you have the right firewall . Mine tells me exactly what to block and what i dont want to block. the problem with blocking ips and not the exes is that Microsoft can just use a different ip. And a company like Microsoft has the technology to get through host block . If IDM can do it surely M$ can .

I already blocked most there crap in 8.1 so nothing new for me ..I had it blocked were i didn't revive notice to opt in to windows 10 tell I reformatted to upgrade to windows 10 . :)

It's not efficient to block IPs, you should block DNS name servers so that when they change the IP address it will be still blocked. which firewall or Internet security you're using? I use KIS 2016 and I have to enter each address manually to block them.

If Microsoft can bypass hosts file then those antispy programs made for Win 10 are useless because they add those name servers to the hosts file and redirect them to localhost.

One thing I learned about Microsoft all that tracking telemetry and Diagnostics Tracking are all different exes than the ones they use for windows updates . My Firewall allows widows updates by default and the store . With my firewall I could trace down every exe and just block ip trough it but by time i do Microsoft will just add a new ip. If you block Microsoft dns you could end up blocking updates or something. So I just block stuff that i dont need internet too that calls out to Microsoft the exe and I'm done. KIS is complicated so you most likely would have block ips overall because it could add the exes back in the trusted zone?

Well if you accidentally block Windows updates then you'll find out once you manually check for updates and then you can omit that name server or IP. KIS 2016 doesn't have an option to enter a domain and block it using firewall, there is only an option in parental control settings to block a domain. but I can block exes or add them to high restricted zones and it's very neat because it creates a profile for a program like Adobe Photoshop and adds all exes related to Adobe company under it so it only takes 3 clicks to block the whole Photoshop activation check.

So in my case I need to know which exes I should block, tracking services, telemetry etc ?? btw you still haven't told me which firewall you're using

Windows 10 FWC ... I use to block a lot ips thorough exe . But I only do that now as a last resort if i dont have no fix and need ito have it for internet access blocking ips only you leave a big gap in you're security for stuff you dont want to be online .. There's nothing I seen M$ calls out that needs to be allowed but windows updates and the store if you use it . dmclient.exe there using that for feedback that gives you popups about how you like windows so far I blocked that one too. :)

Oh yeah it gives a better understanding of Windows firewall. with Windows firewall you can directly block a Windows service from accessing to the Internet and that's an advantage. Windows services related to Microsoft itself use svchost.exe and you can't block the whole process because it breaks other things. you'll need to block only one instance of it like

svchost.exe -k utcsvc located in %SystemRoot%\System32\svchost.exe -k utcsvc

that is for tracking service. unfortunately KIS can't do this and I can't use both firewalls at the same time.

Wow with Windows 10 barely outta the pram, it's service packed.

What happened to all the beta testing results?

Whoop, whoop, that's the sound of da Police, whoop, whoop.

Seems Windows 10 is nothing more than spyware.

I have seen seven (7) yes seven (7) portable and executables ready to remove all the hate from Windows 10 and the list is near endless.

I am thinking about sticking with seven (7), now if it was Windows nine (9) then I reckon it would had been cool!

So seems one will be waiting for windows eleven (11).
