Some Notes about Compression Applications.

Some lousy Archivers have been shared on this forum.
Before the whole list of Compression App Outsiders, mentoned here: Encode's Forum GUI-windows-archivers, will appear on Nsane, let's counter it a bit.

Some people may be interested in compression.

Next to Ilia's Encode's Forum, anyone can go to these two benchmark sites:

- Squeeze Chart.com

- CompressionRatings.com
Programs with lousy compression and forgettable Archivers are not featured on these sites.

Recommended Archivers, (by me):
- WinRAR, (speed, safety with recovery files, user friendly)

- WinZip (.zipx standard, backup options)

- 7-Zip (compression)

- FreeArc (performance)

- Powerarchiver (versatile options)

- Peazip (multi-platform)

- WinArchiver (only because it almost equals popular PowerIso)

Others may come and go, but the list of useful Archivers has been remarkably stubborn. It has long been the same.
