Burmese Python shimmies along wire in bid for freedom from island house

It’s like a scene from a horror film – but this chilling image of a snake escaping over a telephone wire is very real.

And police have warned that the audacious animal is not alone in having made a daring dash for freedom.

In the skin-crawling photographs, taken on Anglesey , a snake can be seen slithering along the wire having climbed out of its tank and through a window.

Wrapping itself around the wire, the reptile – believed to be a Burmese Python – clings on as it makes a bold bid for freedom.

The snake made it to a house at the other end of the wire and was making its way down a drainpipe.

Could 6ft corn snake be on the loose in Prestatyn?

The pictures were taken in a village on the island in July last year, but have been tweeted as a reminder to keep tanks secure as the weather heats up.

Sergeant Rob Taylor, from North Wales Police’s rural crime unit, said the force had received reports another snake had escaped from its tank in Prestatyn recently.

Then its owner came with a broom handle to collect it and take it back to its tank.

Sgt Taylor, who runs the @NWPRuralCrime Twitter page , added: “The vast majority of people who own reptiles keep them in secure tanks, but for those who don’t this is a timely reminder to do so.”

if that was a Burmese it was a baby, I suggest you read this

http://www.gazettelive.co.uk/news/teesside-news/public-warned-vigilant-after-second-9634566

they found a Royal Boa which is a fairly docile snake a couple of days before but a 8 foot Python is not a big one this is a list of the more "popularly kept ones"

Children's python: 4-6 ft
Jungle carpet python: 4-7 ft
Ball python: 3-6 ft
Burmese python: 14-20 ft
Blood python: 5-7 ft

and the one caught after escaping is a Amerlistic Python worth a fair bit of money which surprises me normally this would sell very quickly so if the person who had it wanted rid of it it would have sold quick.
